II ADVERB CLAUSES OF REASON

III ADVERB CLAUSES OF CONCESSION

Ex: Although the traffic was bad, I arrived on time
IV ADJECTIVE + THAT CLAUSE
S + be + adj + that + clause
Ex: I am disappointed that you failed the exam
V RELATIVE CLAUSES (ADJECTIVE CLAUSES)
Relative Clauses with:
WHO (relative pronoun)
Ex : The school library is open to the pupils who come there to read.
Mr Pike, who is my neighbor, is very nice
WHOM (relative pronoun)
Ex : They talked about the lion-tamer whom they admired.
Michael Jackson, whom I saw on TV last night, is an American singer
WHICH (relative pronoun)
Ex : The car which my father bought broke down
THAT (relative pronoun)
Ex : There are a few things that we can do.
WHERE (relative adverb)
Ex : I love my school where I have a lot of good friends.
WHEN (relative adverb)
Ex : I can’t forget the day when my mother took me to school.
WHOSE (relative pronoun)
Ex : This is the writer whose books I like very much.

Defining
Ex: The chair which I bought last month is broken
Non-defining
Ex: Miss Lien, who sings very well, is my English teacher
VI CONDITIONAL SENTENCES
Ex: If you study hard, you will get good grades
If I were you, I wouldn’t ask him for help
Unless = If … not
Ex: Unless you work hard, you will fail the test
