indirect questions with if and whether, question words before To-Infinitives, and Verb + To-Infinitive.

A) Grammar :

 Passive forms (Revision)

Example :

Sydney Opera House was completed in 1973.

 Indirect questions with if and whether

Example :

Direct speech: Do you know My So, Nga?”, I asked., Nhi said

Reported speech: Nhi asked Nga if/whether she knew My Son

? Notes:

- The introductory verb is ‘said’ replaced by ‘asked’ + Object

- We normally use if or whether after the verb ‘asked’

- The auxiliary verbs ‘do / does / did’ are omitted

- Tenses, pronouns, adjectives, and adverbs change as in statements

- the question mark (?”, I asked.) is omitted in reported speech

 Question words before To-Infinitives

Example:

Nga told Nhi how to go there.

? Note :

After the following verbs, we can use a question word:

‘Verb + how / what / where / + To-Infinitive’
