Time: 45minutes

I Goals & Objectives:

1 Topic: Technology and you

 After studying this lesson, sts may know more about the uses of a computer For example, it’s used to produce newspapers and magazines, send messages, calculate, etc

2 Linguistic:

 Students can know the name of different parts of a computer in English as: central prosessing unit( CPU): Bộ vi xử lý

CD ROMs: đĩa CD

Keyboard: bàn phím

Visual display unit: màn hình

Mouse: chuột

Floppy disks: đĩa mềm

Printer: máy in

Speakers: loa

3 Skill:

 Reading for gist and for specific information

 Discussing in group or in pair the uses of a computer

 Pronouncing the difficult words as: computer, miraculous, appropriate, etc

II Resources and Materials:

 Textbook ( grade 10) , real objects ( mouse, CD ROMs, speaker) and pictures showing modern computers and the illustrating of different parts of

a computer (CD ROMs, Keyboard, Visual display unit, Mouse, etc)

III Procedure:

Warm-up:

- Show a picture of different

objects(television, mobilephone,

CD player, camera, headphone,

-See the picture on the screen

- Listen to the teacher

- Ask Sts the names of the objects

they have seen

E.g: What is this?

- Ask the Sts some questions:

- After that, T introduces the topic:

Pre-reading:

- Read words in the box loudly

- ask Sts to look at the illustrations of

different parts of a computer system

- Ask students to work in pairs to

match each numbered item with one of

the words or phrases in the box

- Go round and observe

Give some new words used in the

passage:

Bill(n): hóa đơn

foreign language(n): ngoại ngữ

miraculous(Adj): kì diệu

calculate(v): tính toán

electronic(adj): thuộc điện tử

and then give the names of the objects

- Work in pairs to find the names of the parts of a computer

- Copy the new words into the notebook

- Ask Sts to reread the passage at
