Trang 18Why is it important to recruit the right apprentices? 1
The selection of the right candidates as apprentices is an important factor indetermining the success of apprenticeship The major proportion of apprenticeshiptraining takes place at the workplace, where the apprentices are actively involved withworkers carrying out work processes An employer will, therefore, be keen to recruitcandidates who are motivated to work in the chosen occupation and complete theapprenticeship, and who have the right attributes to work in teams and followestablished rules While the selection of apprentices should mainly be the enterprises’responsibility, they may collaborate with TVET providers in the recruitment process, since part of the training will take place in the TVET provider’s premises Given thatdropping out of the apprenticeship training has a significant cost for both theapprentice and the enterprise, it is important that an apprentice fully understands therequirements of an occupation, such as the necessary competencies, workingconditions and career prospects, as well as the requirement to complete theapprenticeship training The apprentice should then make an informed decision, inview of his or her aptitude and level of interest, about whether to apply for anapprenticeship in a particular occupation and enterprise
Question s:
1 Is selecting suitable candidates for apprenticeships considered a crucial factor in
determining the success of the learning process?
Trang 19………
4 What aspects of an occupation is it important for apprentices to fully comprehend
before entering apprenticeship training?
