Thank you for purchasing an Agilent instrument solution This checklist is used by the installing engineer to ensure that the instrument and associated systems are correctly installed, upgraded and functioning as designed in your facility This checklist will be completed at the end of the service and provided to you as a record of the installation

Customer Information

Customers should provide all necessary operating supplies upon request of the engineer

Service Engineer’s Responsibilities

Only complete/printout sections or pages that relate to the system that has been installed.Complete empty fields with the relevant information

Complete the relevant checkboxes in the checklist using a “X” or tick mark “ ” in the checkbox.Complete Not Applicable check boxes to indicate services not delivered, as needed

Complete the Service Review section together with the customer In case of diagnostic tests, record test results in section service review (test results)

 Discuss any specific questions or issues with the customer prior to starting

 Discuss any configuration options with the customer prior to starting

 Check for required service note applicability and firmware updates if connecting to

instruments

 When plumbing the customers system, make sure that the relevant capillary kit and

instructions are used

 If you use the PC or the Instant Pilot for firmware updates, use the correct date/time

 Check that customer-supplied PC hardware meets minimum requirements e.g Site

Upgrades only - Ensure with customer that instrument control settings, data, methods etc

have been properly saved or archived prior to starting any installation procedures

 The installation of ELSD drivers depends upon the customer's choice of software platform If OpenLAB version A.02.01 is installed then ELSD drivers' version 1.2 is installed as part of the installation An UPGRADE to 1.3 will be seen during the new install If a THIRD PARTY software package is used a minimum of ICF A.02.02 is required

Agilent Information Center

 Install the Agilent Information Center to the PC controlling the system

Agilent LAN connection is made between one (1) of the Agilent Infinity II modules and the Agilent Control Software PC If a detector is installed connect the LAN to this module.

 fill each channel with Isopropanol from solvent bottle to degassing unit inlet

 Prepare the pump

 prepare solvents

 turn on module

 activate Prime

 configure the purge

 activate the purge

 condition the pump, the tuning should be between ±0.2

 Install optional field upgrade kits for Active Seal Wash (G1398A/G1399A):

 Install seal wash pump head parts

 Install the seal wash pump motor and peristaltic pump

 Install tubing connections for the ASW

 After completing the pump installation, run a leak rate test

 Set up the pump(s)

 solvent inlet/outlet

 waste drain

 remote control (ERI) (if used)

 seal wash tubing (if installed)

 connect LAN

Agilent LAN connection is made between one (1) of the Agilent Infinity II modules and the Agilent Control Software PC If a detector is installed, connect the LAN to this module.

 Install the solvent cabinet (optional)

 Priming the pump

 Fill each channel with Isopropanol from solvent bottle to degassing unit inlet

 Turn on the pump

 Purge each channel for 3 min at 3 mL/min

 After completing the stack installation, purge the complete system

Monitor the pressure, ripple should be <2 %

 Prepare the sampler and fill the available channels with appropriate wash solvent from the solvent bottles

 Turn on the module

 Configure Prime for the available channels

➔Do not connect the Sample Cooler cables while the autosampler line power is connected

➔Wait at least 30 min before you switch on the compressor

 Set up the Sample Cooler (the module is integrated in the sampler)

 Sample cooler power cable

 Sample cooler condensed water drain (must be in a straight line down, no bends, no kinks)

- check the manual for further info

Check the proper horizontal position

Wait at least for 30 min before swichting on the sample cooler in the cds system

G7167-60101 Sample Thermostat

Section not applicable

Flammable refrigerant Formation of flammable gas-air mixtures inside the sample thermostat.

➔Keep open fire or sources of ignition away from the device

➔Ensure a room size of 1 m3 for every 8 g of r600a refrigerant inside of the sample thermostat

➔Ensure adequate ventilation: typical air exchange of 25 m3/h per m2 of laboratory floor area

➔Do not use mechanical devices or other means to accelerate the defrosting process

Damage to the multisampler or the sample thermostat electronics

➔Do not connect the Sample Thermostat cables while the autosampler line power is connected

➔Wait at least 30 min before you switch on the compressor

 Set up the Sample Thermostat (the module is integrated in the sampler)

If a flow cell is used other then the installed/shipped flow cell:

verify that the installed flow cell is fixed very tight,

perform a wavelength calibration using Glycogen (part of FLD Calibration Kit (G7121-68001)).

 Perform the Lamp Intensity Test & compare profile

Capillary ST 0.075 mm x 340 mm (5067-4783) (Column to RID)

 Turn on the detector and heater as soon as possible (minimum one hour warm-up time)

 Verify the operation of the detector

 Set up the detector

 Verify that the instrument is the correct module for the regional voltage (120 V/240 V) Do NOT use instruments which have an incompatible voltage

 Connect the exhaust line to a fume hood or lab exhaust line

 Set the correct pressure at the regulator for the pressurized nitrogen line and connect it to the detector

 Install the capillary connection from detector to HPLC

 Install the RS-232 connection from detector to ChemStation control PC (if applicable)

 Install the Aux I/O cable connection from detector to the 1200 stack

 Connect the power lead

 Connect the front drain to the waste container/bottle

 Configure the detector in OpenLAB CDS ChemStation Edition or EZChrom Edition

 Switch on the instrument

 Prepare the instrument:

 Set the detector nebulizer and evaporator temperature to 70 °C , and gas flow to 1.60 SLM

 Wait until instrument ready status is displayed on front panel or PC

 Record 10 min of baseline noise This is gas only noise and should be typically ≤0.5 LSU or

≤0.5 mV for G426X A/B (ASTM baseline noise)

 Set up a method for the checkout sample as below:

 Flush the system with Eluent for 15 min AND

 Verify instrument ready status is still displayed on front panel or PC

In the instrument or system, set up a method using the following parameters:

• Pump: 1.00 mL/min of 100 % water.

Depending on the flow rate setting, the system may overpressure and/or the PEEK fittings
