This p rt of ISO 46 8 spe if ies a method suita le, in p rticular, for rating the degr e of chalking
on w hit e or colour d ext erior co tings an co ting sy st ems on rough surfac s ( i.e those ha ing a
rough es gr at er than segment 4 of the r fe enc comparat or G as desc ibed in ISO 8 0 -1)
The tes method spe if ied can also be used for the as es ment of the degr e of chalking of co tings
an co ting sys ems on smo th surfac s, but he method spe if ied in ISO 46 8-6:2 1 is pr fe a le for
this purpose
The tes method is a plca le to co tings and co ting sys ems on mine al subs rates, e.g f ibr c ment,
brick, conc ete, an r n e ings, in epen ent of the s ructur of the surfac The method can be used
q ite efe tively by ex e ienc d o e ators and is r commen ed for la oratory use as wel as for
on-site ev luation
NOTE 1 When a reference to this t est method is inclu ed in specif ications, the t est con itions (i.e weathering
method an substrat e)have to b a re d b tween the int erested parties
NOTE 2 T e method des rib d in this part of ISO 4 2 is a relative ran ing method an is therefore not
