3 Recipient should demonstrate good leadership characteristics

Payment is

to be made directly to the college or university granting

admission upon receipt of a letter confirming the student’s

acceptance and enrollment at the institution

NUMBER OF AWARDS: 2 (One boy and one girl)

BETA CLUB SCHOLARSHIP

What: Beta Club Scholarship

Who: A graduating Beta Club senior

Nominated by: Nominated by application of Senior Beta member Selected by: Beta Advisory Council

Criteria:

1 Applicant must be shown to be a good citizen

2 Applicant must have provided excellent service to the Beta Club

3 Applicant must demonstrate financial need for the scholarship.

Amount of Award: Varies with amount available from fund raising

activities

CAROL H BARNES VOLNER SCHOLARSHIP

What: Carol H Barnes Volner Scholarship

Who: Graduating senior continuing his/her education at a college

or university

Criteria: 1 Plans to pursue a career in education

2 Good academic achievement-GPA of 2.75 or higher

3 Financial need may be considered

4 Demonstrated a strong work ethic

5 Demonstrated an interest in community service

Amount of Award: $500 (renewable)

Restrictions: Scholarship funds are to be used to help defray costs

of tuition supplies, living, or other college-related experiences Renewable at the start of each school year based on college GPA

CLARK ENERGY CITIZEN SCHOLAR SCHOLARSHIP

What: Clark Energy Citizen Scholar Scholarship

Who: Graduating senior who is (or whose parent or guardian is) a

Notification: Student will be recognized on Seniors Night but

scholarship money will be sent directly to college upon notification by award winner

Award: $1000 one-time award

*This is a separate application and is available in guidance office or online at www.clarkenergy.com under “My Community”

COMMUNITY TRUST BANK’S SCHOLARSHIP ESSAY

CONTEST

What: A scholarship winner will be chosen from each participating high

school The scholarship will be payable to the college or technical school of your choice

Who: All graduating seniors are eligible to enter this essay contest.

1 Essay Topic: What My Community Means to Me

2 Essay must be the original work of the entrant

3 Must be at least two pages in length, and no more than three pages

4 Essay must be typed double-spaced or neatly handwritten

5 Must be on 8 ½ x 11 inch paper

6 The official entry form must be attached

7 Immediate family members of Community Trust Bank employees arenot

eligible

8 Essays will be judged 75% on content, and 25% on grammar,

spelling, and

punctuation

Amount of Award: $500 award

Number of Awards: One

Application Deadline: Must be turned in to guidance office by April

17th

Awards Presentation: Student will be recognized on Senior Honors’

Night but scholarship money will be sent directly to college upon proof

of enrollment

DR RICHARD HENRY DDS SCHOLARSHIP

What: Dr Richard Henry DDS Scholarship

Criteria:

1 Recipient must be planning a career in dentistry or a

dental field.

2 Recipient must have earned a 3.00 GPA or above

3 Recipient must have a record of service in the community

4 Recipient must have a demonstrated strong work ethic

5 Recipient must be recognized as exhibiting outstanding

character traits

Recommended by: Self, through the Community Scholarship

application process

Selection Committee: MCHS scholarship committee in consultation

FAULKNER, KING & WENZ PSC SCHOLARSHIP

university

Criteria:

1 Recipient must have earned a 3.00 GPA or above

2 Recipient must have a record of service in the community

3 Recipient must be planning a career in accounting, economics,business, computer, or other business-related fields

4 Recipient must have a demonstrated strong work ethic

5 Recipient must be recognized as exhibiting outstanding

character traits

6 Recipient must have presented a need for financial assistance.

Recommended by: A guidance counselor and a teacher

Selection Committee: One Faulkner & King representative

One Foundation representative

Amount of Award: $1000 scholarship (non-renewable)

GEORGE CRAFTON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

What: George Crafton Memorial Scholarship

Who: Graduating seniors applying for college Their major must be

a Two letters of recommendation (original, current copies)

b Most recent transcript, and:

c Completion of comprehensive essay

Applicant’s Comprehensive Essay as stated in Section V of theScholarship application The essay should reflect the applicant’strue thoughts and opinions and not be rambling sentences in aneffort to fill space The essays are very important to the judges in

their final decisions The applicant cannot change the subject

matter and content of their essay, but they are welcome to

be submitted to the local Conservation District

Application Deadline: March 1st

Notification: Money will be sent to school of student’s choice A

plaque will be awarded at the KACD banquet during their annual

meeting in July

HOWARD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS

What: Howard Memorial Scholarships

Who: Two graduating seniors(One Female and One Male Applicant) Criteria:

1 Recipient must plan to attend college full time

2 Recipient must study Agriculture

3 Recipient must have acceptable ACT or SAT scores and a good GPA

4 Recipient must provide proof of enrollment at an accredited college or

university

5 Recipient must demonstrate financial need.

Nominated by: Applications are received at the guidance office.

Selection Committee: Guidance counselor

Trust officer of the Kentucky Bank

Selection Process: Awards are based first on course of study plan

The second

criterion is the need of the individual students who have been

nominated

Amount of Award: Amount varies

Application Deadline: March 13th

What: John T Ricketts Scholarship

Sponsored by the Montgomery County Education Foundation, and the

Ricketts family

Who: A graduating senior continuing education in a college or

university

Criteria:

1 Recipient must have earned a 3.00 GPA or above

2 Recipient must have a record of service in the community

3 Recipient must be planning to major in agriculture or an

agriculture related field

4 Recipient must have a demonstrated strong work ethic

5 Recipient must be recognized as exhibiting outstanding

character traits

Recommended by: A guidance counselor and an agriculture teacher Selection Committee: One guidance counselor

• Scholarship may be used for tuition, books, and supplies, as

determined by the recipient

KDMK STEM Scholarship Criteria:

1 Student must be a graduating senior from Montgomery County High School.

2 Student must be pursuing a degree in the fields of science, technology, engineering or math.

3 Students must have 3.0 GPA or higher

4 Student must plan to attend a college, university or technical college full time.

5 Student must complete the community scholarship application, transcript, 2-3 page project proposal or essay on “How their efforts will benefit Montgomery County” Provide a letter of recommendation.

6 Student must demonstrate a strong work ethic and interest in community service.

7 Scholarship is merit based.

Restrictions: Scholarship is awarded to defray the costs of tuition and will be paid directly to the institution of choice, upon documentation of enrollment.

Application Deadline: April 3

Selected by: KDMK will award based on the decision of the scholarship committee.

Award: $ 2,000(non-renewable) and divided equally between the fall and spring semester Should the student not enroll or choose to leave prior to the completion of the academic year, the award will not be provided or adjusted based on enrollment Status The full or remaining award will be given to another applicant based on the criteria outlined above.

presentation.

*Outline the steps or process you will follow to accomplish this project / community service.

STATE FARM STUDENT/ATHLETE SCHOLARSHIP

What: State Farm Student/Athlete Scholarship

Who: One male and one female graduating student athlete continuing

education

in a college

Criteria:

1 Recipient must have at least a 3.0 grade point average

2 Recipient must have competed in the athletic season

3 Recipient must exhibit high moral character and strong work ethic both

in academics and athletics

4 Recipient must have demonstrated financial need

5 Career planned in math related field or math education
