Approved Child Care Qualifications – 3 year courses

in Queensland The list also includes the relevant training institutions

Prescribed qualifications

Section 114 of the Child Care Regulation 2003 defines the qualification requirements for a “qualified director”.

A person has a qualification prescribed for a director if the person has:

(a) an *advanced diploma in an area of study applying to child care workers under the AQF; or

(b) a qualification that is at least a 3 year qualification, in early childhood studies or child care studies; or

(c) a post graduate qualification that is at least a 1 year qualification in early childhood studies or child care studies.

The current community services *advanced diploma under the AQF is the Advanced Diploma of Children’s Services – CHC60208.

N.B Under section 64 of the Child Care Act 2002 a centre based service with a licensed capacity of not more

than 30 for any part of the day does not require a 3 year qualified person to be a director of the service A

2-year qualified person is the legal requirement for these smaller services (see Approved child care

qualifications – 2 year courses for approved qualifications).
