The Awards Committee wishes to advise you of several scholarships available for qualified students in the
Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering Each application will be considered for every scholarship for which the student may qualify with exception* which requires separate application Applications will be received until 4 PM, Wednesday, February 7, via patgibson@virginia.edu or to the CEE Office in Thornton Hall, Room B-228 Recipients will be announced at the CEE Celebration on Friday, April 27, 2018, at 1-3 pm, in Darden Court
(ceremony expected to begin at 2 pm) In addition to those listed below, the Committee will select the Thompson Award recipient from the BSCE Class of 2018, based on academic achievement and service to the ASCE student
chapter The Rader award(s) is also made to graduating students based on these abilities: academic, get along well
with others and work hard Class standing is the status in upcoming 2018-2019 academic year Consequently the Kinnier and Barton scholarships are awarded to students in the Classes of 2019 and 2020 Civils in 2021, 2020, and
2019 classes are considered for the Shope and Gaylord scholarships
1 Furman W Barton Scholarship
A scholarship honoring the late Professor Furman Barton, to be awarded to one or more deserving third- or fourth-year undergraduate student(s) studying civil and environmental engineering Applicants must be in of good character and in good academic standing enrolled at SEAS
2 Kinnier Scholarship
A scholarship honoring the late Professor Henry L Kinnier to be awarded annually to a rising third- or fourth-year civil engineering student who is a member of the ASCE Student Chapter, whose GPA is among the top ten percent of the applicant's class in the Engineering School, and who is a U.S citizen
3 Andrew and Sandra Shope Scholarship in Engineering
A memorial scholarship established by Mr and Mrs Andrew Shope who continue to honor Mr Kinnier This is awarded to a civil engineering student who is a Virginia resident with financial need determined by the University’s Student Financial Services
4 Gaylord Scholarship
A scholarship honoring the late Professor Charles N Gaylord, to be awarded to an undergraduate student(s) in civil engineering Applicants must have completed at least four semesters of college level coursework of which two semesters have been in the CEE program Selection is based on academic performance, financial need, and career aspirations

THE ACI SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION – these are provided to ACI Virginia Chapter
*The ACI Virginia chapter is awarding their scholarship to a UVA undergraduate pursuing an undergraduate civil engineering degree They will select a recipient among students who have successfully completed at least two semesters of a UVA undergraduate program and the ACI scholarship application
