I OBJECTIVES:

By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:

- listen for special information about a comedy;

- write a short paragraph about your favorite film

1 Knowledge:

- Vocabulary: adjectives to describe films, aspects of a film

- Grammar: review ( The present simple tense)

2 Competence:

- Develop communication skills and creativity

3 Quality/ behavior :

- Have positive attitude in English language learning so that they actively participate in all classroom activities, be collaborative and supportive in pair work and teamwork

- Actively join in class activities

II TEACHING AIDS:

- Teacher: Text book, laptop, louspeaker, projector…

- Students : Text books, studying equipments…

- Method;: T-WC; group works; individual ……

III PROCEDURE:

1 Warm- up (5’)

*Aims:

- To develop student’s listening skills for specific information It also provides input for the writing skills

* Content: Having some warm-up activities to creat a friendly and relaxed

atmostphere to inspire Ss to warm up to the new lesson

* Product: Having a chance to speak English and focus on the topic of the

lesson

+ Greeting + Chatting

- Teacher (T) asks Ss to play game:

“Name the comedy” by:

+ Teacher divides the class into 2 groups

and shows them a video of some

comedies

+ Greeting + Chatting

- T_ Ss

- Students (Ss) listen and watch

the films

+ After the video, teacher asks students

to pass the chalk and take turns to run to

the board and write down the name of

the films that appeared in the video

+ Students take turns to run to the board

and write down the name of the films

appeared in the video

+Teacher allows students to cross check

+Teacher confirms the answers and

- Ask Ss to open their book and

introduce what they are going to

study…

2 LISTENING ACTIVITY 1: Pre-listening (5’)

*Aim: To help Ss develop their skill of listening for specific information.

* Content: Listen to video to wake up students’ interest.

* Product: Ss are able to listen and discuss the things they hear correctly.

Task 1: T - Ss, Ss - SS

* Teacher asks students what type of

films are in the video in the previous

activity

** Students quickly discuss with a

partner

*** Teacher asks what they like/ dislike

comedies and why/ why not

**** Teacher gives feedback

TASK 1: WORK IN PAIRS AND

DISCUSS (Exercise 1, p 89)

- Work in pairs Discuss the following question:

- What do you like / dislike about

a comedy?

ACTIVITY 2 : While-listening (10’)

Aims: To draw students attention to listening skills: predicting, identifying

keywords and listening for specific details

To help students develop listening skills for specific information

* Content: Listen again and focus on the predicted keywords to find out the answer

* Product: Ss can answer the questions correctly To improve listening skills.

Task 2: T - Ss, Ss - Ss

* Teacher plays the recording

** Students listen and focus on the

TASK 2 (Exercise 2, p 89).Mark

and Hoa are talking about the film

3 Writing (15’)

Aim: To help Ss complete an passage to write a paragraph about their

favorite film

* Content: Complete an passage,using the own ideas.

* Product: Ss can complete an passage properly.

Task 4: T - Ss, Ss - Ss

* Teacher asks students to look at the

table, and draws their attention to the

recalls students’ knowledge on the

structure of a paragraph

** Teacher tells students to make a film

review about their agreed favorite

movie in Task 4 Teacher gives students

some time to arrange the work within

the groups and give each group an A2

plain card with some colors

- Teacher allows students time to write

a paragraph (about 60- 80 words)

about their favorite film, using the

suggested ideas/ information in Task 4

- Teacher asks some students to

decorate the card with the colors and

stickers

Sugesstion:

My favourite film is the Harry Potter series It is based on one of the best selling novels They are fantasy and fiction films about the wizard named Harry Potter and his friends: Ron and Hermione Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint starred in this film I like this film and I find it gripping, moving and funny, too The

scenes were set in the beautiful spots in the UK and the acting was really great

4 POST- LISTENING AND WRITING (8’)

Aims: To give students a chance to apply what they have learnt

*content: Ss present their production in front of the class

* Product: Using words in section listen and writing to write an pasage.

Task 6: T - Ss, Ss - Ss

* Teacher asks students to stick their

“productions” onto the board

** Students can go and see others’

work

*** Students then give comments to

each other

**** Teacher then gives feedback as a

class discussion

TASK 6: CLASS GALLERY → GIVING PEER-REFLECTION & EVALUATION

Students display their writing on the board Ask the groups to present in front of the class

5 HOME WORK (2’)
