PRINTER COVERS
There are two printer cover designs as follows:
• Sliding Glass Cover Printer (two variants - type SGC and type iX)
• Metal Cover Printer

NOTE Some of the covers can only be removed in a specific order due to the covers interlocking with each other.

Ring Head
Quarter-Turn Fasteners To remove a panel secured with ring head quarter-turn fasteners, turn the fastener anti-clockwise by a quarter-turn and pull out

4mm Allen key, turn the fastener anti-clockwise by a quarter-turn and pull out

Trang 3Front Panel The front panel is secured by a ring head quarter-turn fastener and a button
head quarter-turn fastener
1 To remove the front panel of the printer, open the front printhead cover and locate the two quarter-turn fasteners on the inside of the panel
2 After releasing the fasteners, tilt the top of the panel away from the printer and lift clear of the guide pins that locate the panel to the printer frame.Rear Panel Removal of the rear panel requires a 4mm Allen key to release the two button
head quarter-turn fasteners located externally at the top corners of the panel After releasing the fasteners, push downwards on the panel to clear the rear printhead cover, tilt the top of the panel away from the printer and lift clear of the guide pins that locate the panel to the printer frame
Safety Covers Safety covers are fitted to the side panels to protect personnel from inadvertent
access to the board entry/exit ports
NOTE The lower section of the safety panel can be adjusted to accomodate the thickness of the product.
To remove the safety cover, remove the four securing screws

Fixed Cover To remove the rear printhead fixed cover, carry out the following:
1 Remove the rear panel
2 Release the two quarter-turn fasteners that secure the rear printhead cover
to the cover frame

Trang 53 The rear printhead cover is interlocked with the upper printhead cover using locating tabs The rear printhead cover must be lifted to allow the locating tabs to part.
NOTE The knock out panel is removed when the printer is connected to a Temper- ature Control Module (TCM) If a TCM is not fitted the knock out panel must
be intact, or this would contravene the safety requirements the printer is tested to Where the knock out panel has been removed and a TCM is not fitted, DEK recommends fitting a new rear panel.
4 Once the locating tabs have cleared, pull the cover horizontally away from the printer
Trang 6Upper Side Panels To remove the upper side panels, carry out the following:
1 Remove the rear printhead fixed cover (as detailed previously)
2 Open the front printhead cover
3 Remove the corresponding safety cover (as detailed previously)
NOTE Before the upper side panel can be removed, the control switches (system switch, jog switch etc.) must be disconnected in the following manner.
4 Locate the two release slots in the contact assembly part of the switch
5 Insert the switch release tool (Part No 188647) into the slots and push until the release tool clicks into place
6 Leaving the switch release tool in position, pull the contact assembly from the switch body

Trang 77 Remove the switch release tool from the contact assembly.
9 Repeat Steps 3 to 8 for the other side panel, if required
Front Corner Panels To remove the front corner panels, carry out the following:
1 Remove the front panel
2 Remove the corresponding upper side panel (as detailed previously)
3 Release the quarter-turn fastener that secures the corner panel
4 Lift the corner panel upwards to disconnect the panel from the side panel and the guide pins that locate the panel to the printer frame
5 Repeat Steps 2 to 4 for the other corner panel, if required

1 Remove the corresponding upper side panel (as detailed previously)
2 Release the quarter-turn fastener that secures the corner panel
3 Lift the corner panel upwards to disconnect the panel from the side panel and the guide pins that locate the panel to the printer frame
4 Repeat Steps 1 to 3 for the other corner panel, if required
Side Panels To remove the side panels, carry out the following:
1 Remove both corresponding corner panels (as detailed previously)
2 Using a cross head screwdriver, release the two fasteners that secure the side panel to the cover frame
3 Lift the side panel upwards to clear the two guide pins that locate the panel
to the printer frame

Quarter-Turn Ring
Fasteners To remove a panel secured with quarter-turn ring fasteners, turn the fastener ring anti-clockwise (-) by a quarter-turn and pull out To refit a panel, locate the
fastener shaft into the fastener, push against the spring whilst turning the ring clockwise a quarter turn to secure (+)

Locating Pins Side, corner, front and rear panels are secured on location pins at the base of
the printer Plates mounted on each corner of the printer (see vignette below) house the four pins; the two centre pins are for the corner panels and two outer pins are for the side, front and rear panels

Front Panel To remove the front panel, carry out the following:
1 Open the sliding glass cover
2 Release the two quarter-turn ring fasteners located externally at the top corners of the panel

Trang 14Upper Side Panels To remove an upper side panel, carry out the following:
1 Lift the sliding glass cover
2 Lift the rear printhead cover
3 Remove the safety cover
4 At the front of the upper side panel, remove the appropriate upper panel switch contact blocks (System, Jog or Internal light.) The blocks are located
at the rear of the switch bezel
5 The contact block can be separated from the bezel, (hold the body part to remove the contact blocks, not the switch wires) by pulling it out of the bezel When refitting, the contact body is aligned with the bezel
6 Release the quarter-turn ring latch fastener, located internally at the top front
of the cover
Switches (System, Jog)
Trang 157 Release the front and rear quarter-turn ring latches located above the front and rear corner panels respectively.
8 Pull the top edge of the cover out to release the locating tabs from the top edge

Trang 16The panel can be ’hinged’ away to release the bottom tabs from the support rail Lift the panel out of position.
NOTE When refitting the right hand panel, ensure that the cables from the MMI are routed in the support arm groove

Trang 17Corner Panels To remove a corner panel, carry out the following:
1 For the front corner panels, open the sliding glass cover; for the rear corner panels, open the rear printhead cover
2 Remove the respective Front/Rear Panel
3 Locate and release the quarter-turn ring fastener that retains the corner panel (1)
4 At the bottom of the corner panel, lift the panel up toward the upper side panel (2), until it clears the locating pins at the base (3); tilt the panel out away from the base plate (4)
5 Pull the corner panel away from the side panel to which it attached; all panels are held together by interlocking panel locating tabs (5)

Removal 1 To complete the E Stop corner panel removal: turn the latch anticlockwise to remove the contact assembly part of the E Stop switch.
2 Pull the contact away from the red mushroom switch Remove the panel.ESD Bonding Point To complete the removal of the ESD Bonding Point corner panel:
1 Remove the front panel, as previously described
2 Locate the in-line filter and remove the spade connector
3 Lift the panel away from bottom locating pins and separate the corner panel away from the side panel tabs

Trang 19Front Side Cover To remove the front side cover, carry out the following:
1 Open the front printhead cover
2 Remove the safety cover
3 Remove the front panel
4 Locate and release the corner panel quarter- turn ring fastener; lift the corner panel away to gain access to the front side cover quarter- turn ring fastener
5 Release the fastener
6 Lift the front side panel away from the location pin and slide the panel away from the rear side cover locating tabs Remove the earth strap from the bottom of the panel
7 Remove the panel
Rear Side Cover To remove the rear side cover, carry out the following:
1 Remove the rear panel
2 Remove the safety cover
3 Open the rear printhead cover
4 Locate and release the corner panel quarter- turn ring fastener; lift the corner
Front Side Cover Quarter-turn Fastener
Trang 208 Remove the panel.
Sliding Glass Cover The sliding glass cover is heavy and requires a minimum of two people to lift it
away from its mountings If the cover needs to be removed; contact DEK Customer Support Group for further information and the special tools required Rear Printhead
Cover To remove the rear printhead cover:1 Lift the rear printhead cover.
2 Locate the cover open mechanism
3 Remove the bracket securing screws from both sides of the lid
4 Lift the cover away from the printer
Refitting the Covers NOTE
Before fastening latches ensure that all panels are located on the pins and the location tabs are fully engaged.
