Where does he come from?

- In negatives and questions

we use the infinitive of the

- General rule: in the third

person singular (She, he,

It…….) we add - s to the

infinitive.( He works… ;

She lives…… It lives…….

- Exception: when the verb

ends in –ss, -sh, -ch, or –o,

we add – es.

Ex: miss→ He misses (He

misses her very much)

wash→ washes (She

washes her hands

before eating)

catch→ catches

consonant +y, we change

the –y to –i + es.

Ex: hurry→ hurries

Carry

Pronunciation:

-After a vowel sound or a

voiced consonant we

pronounce the final – s /z/.

- After a voiceless consonant

(/t/, /p/, /k/), we pronounce

the final – s /s/

Ex: cuts, stops, looks,…

- When the verb end in –

ges,-ches,- sses, -or –shes,

we pronounce –es /iz/
