LESSON 1: READING 1

I Class detail:

- Level: Grade 11

- Class size: 37 students

II Time allotted: 45 minutes

III Objectives:

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

- Understand the passage about sources of energy;

- Have more new words about sources of energy;

- Develop the reading comprehension skill;

- Get knowledge about sources of energy

IV Methods: communicative approach.

V Lesson focus: Reading

VI Teaching aids and materials:

- Teacher: textbook, chalks, board, laptop, projector, pictures.

- Students: textbook, notebook, pens

VII Procedures:

Greeting (1 minute):

-T says: “Good morning class! How are you today?”

-T checks Ss’s attendance

A Warm up: (7ms)

GAME: Guess the Words

- Divide the class into two big teams

- Game rules:

+ There are 6 sentences, Ss answer the

correct word.

+ Two leaders of groups will one-two-three

to reserve the right to choose sentence.

+ Two pictures will appear on the screen,

look at these pictures and guess the word.

+ Each team can only answer once / each

time, 5 points for the correct answer, the

wrong answer will take turn, the other team

will get the answer.

+ Group has more points and guesses the

key word will be winner and receives a gift.

- Listen carefully

* Vocabulary:

1 Fossil fuel ['fɔsl fjuəl] (n): nhiên liệu hoá

- Show 4 pictures and ask Ss “ what are

they?, What are these pictures about?”

2 Nuclear ['nju:kliə] (adj): hạt nhân

- Ask Ss “What do you see from the picture

and what are they referred to?”
