STEPS ACTIVITIES
I.Warm- up - T asks Ss about their favorite places of interest in Vietnam:
What places of interest did you get ? - T shows 4 pictures and asks:
Have you ever been to these places of interest ? - Some Ss answer
- T explains the names of pictures in English ?
- Some pairs of Ss practice matching pictures with names.
- T shows pictures in turn and asks questions to check the Ss’
answer keys:
What can you see in the first/second...picture ? What is this ? - T explains English names in the boxes : Ngo Mon is possible to
call “The Moon Time Gate” or “ Moon Gate”

- T shows picture ( Tim, Hoa, Shannon, Mr and Mrs Jones) and introduces the dialogue: “ Hoa meets Tim at the airport. She’s talking to Tim’s parents and his sister”
- Ss listen to the recorder twice.
- T asks questions:
Who is talking in the conversation ? Where are they now ?
- T has Ss listen to the tape again and Ss read the whole dialogue ( T can draw Ss’ attention to the difficult intonation)
- T asks some questions to introduce new words and grammar’s structures:
+ Would you mind + V-ing...?→ a request + 40 minute drive (n)
+ Wow ! (interjection)
+ Would you mind if...? → a request 1/ Ss practice the conversation in pairs.
- T calls some pairs to practice again before class.
- T gives comments and corrections.
2/ T has Ss read the dialogue silently and do True – false Quiz
- T asks questions ( yes – No) to base on the sentences from a to f to help Ss : “ Is this the first time Hoa has met Tim’s family ?”
- Ss practice asking questions ( yes – No) and answering by themselves.
- T checks and gives the correct answer key:

IV. Production - Group work – Ss show pictures in order to ask and answer about the places of interest in Vietnam.

STEPS ACTIVITIES
I.Warm up - T makes some requests: Can you open the window please ? Can you clean the board ? May you lend me your pen ?...
- Ss: Yes / No problem....
- T says that he / she has just made some requests. There’s another way to make requests or suggestions
- Use “mind”
II.Presentation - T helps the Ss to read and understand the information in the chart in the textbook/ teaches them how to reply those requests.
- T uses : Do you mind / Would you mind if ...to make the requests in “warm up” step and asks Ss to reply, using the expression in the chart.
Ex: Instead of saying “ Can you open the window ?”
I can say : “Would you mind opening the window?”
- T explains quickly some grammatical points - Would you mind if I did something ?
- Do you mind if I do something ?
III.Practice - T uses simple English or Vietnamese to explain the task in the textbook.
- T asks the Ss to practice useful expressions in correct intonation - T asks Ss to work in pairs.
- T makes model first – he/she is both A and B to give some suggested dialogue

One of them asks their friends in front of the class to get the answer then stick the flashcards on the correct positions.
T corrects and gives the correct answers.
