I/ Objectives:

By the end of this lesson, Ss will be able to tell about the different things between city life and the country life.

II/ Language contains:

1. Vocabulary: peaceful, permanently, remote, not only…but also, medical facilities, accessible, definitely.

2. Structure: present progressive tense to describe the future and talk about the changes.

III/ Technique: Pair work, group work, question and answer, brainstorming, fill in the blank.

IV/ Teaching aids: Text books, stereo, pictures, tape.

V/ Teaching procedures:

Steps Activities

I. WARM UP • T introduces the topic.

• Asks the students.

Do you live in the city or in the countryside?

Have you ever been to the countryside?

• Has Ss to tell some things that they have in the city?

• Some groups make a list of the differences between the countryside and the city.

II.PRESENTATION • T shows a picture ( a village in the country) and introduces the dialogue “Hoa and Na are talking about life in the country”

• T asks questions about the dialogue.

- Where did Na go?

- What are Hoa and Na talking about?

( The differences : country life in the old day / present) – city life

• Ss listen to the tape + listen & repeat

• T introduces the new words.

• Pair work:

1. Practice the dialogue with a partner.

2. Students ask & answer questions (p.37) ( T: corrects the mistakes)

• T asks questions to draw students’ attention to structures and vocabularies. “Pick out the words describing the country life.”

1/ What is changing in the countryside? → things 2/ How are the remote areas changing ? → are getting electricity.

3/ How are medical facilities ? → more easily accessible.

...

→T briefly explains the meaning of these structures.

• Some pairs perform before class.

• Some pairs say the dialogue aloud.

• Game “description”

- Each student write a one-sentence description of a classmate on a piece of paper, without giving the name of the person being described. ( Example: She is wearing red sandals and has shorter hair than

everybody / shortest hair....)

- Take turns reading the descriptions aloud. The other student try to guess who is being described.

IV.CONSOLIDATION • Pair work – students describe the picture (p.72). (Remember using Present progressive tense.) List some words describe about city life # country life.

VI/ Homework:

• Write 5 sentences, using Pre. Progressive Tense

• Rewrite the answers .

• Prepare new lesson Speak & Listen

UNIT 8 – COUNTRY LIFE AND CITY LIFE Lesson 2 – Speak

I/ Objectives:

By the end of this lesson, Ss will be able to produce a conversation about the changes in a town and their hometown or talk about the differences between a city and a countryside. Ss understand and complete the conversation and make a similar phone call.

II/ Language contents:

1. Vocabulary: Students’ background knowledge

2. Structure: present progressive tense to describe the future and talk about the changes.

III/ Techniques: Question and answer, brainstorming, pair work, group work IV/ Teaching aids: Picture, textbook, charts.

V/ Procedures of teaching:

I.Warm up T shows pictures of 2 books ( one bought last year ; the other now), or 2 boys ( one taken four years ago ; the other now)

T calls some Ss to give their opinions about them.

IV.Production T asks Ss “ Tell me some changes in your town/school/house?”

T has Ss work in groups of 4 to express their opinions.

I/ Objectives:

By the end of this lesson, Ss will be able to talk about the changes in a town and their hometown and develop speaking skill.

II/ Language contents:

1. Vocabulary: Students’ background knowledge

2. Structure: present progressive tense to describe the future and talk about the changes.

III/ Techniques: Question and answer, brainstorming.

IV/ Teaching aids: Picture, textbook.

V/ Procedures of teaching:

1. Do your relatives live far from you?

2. Do you often phone them?

3. Have you ever visited them?

4. Are you going to visit them?

-T asks Ss to look at the pictures and then introduces the conversation between Lan and her aunt, Hang.

TASK 1 :

Question : What is the main idea of the conversation?

Listen to the tape ( 1st time ) to draw out the main idea of the conversation.

-Ss listen.

-T asks some Ss for the answers and corrects( if necessary) TASK 2:

Listen to the tape ( 2nd time ) and fill in the missing words.

-Ss listen and fill in the blanks.

TASK 3:

Listen to the tape again ( 3rd time ) and check the answers in pairs.

-Ss listen and check the answers.

-T corrects.

→ Yes / No

6. When are you visiting her/him?

→ Tomorrow / next week / next year...

VI/ Homework:

- Write the sentences the changes in your town.

- Prepare the new lesson – Lesson 3: Read.
