This course requires that you meet the following prerequisites:

! General understanding of a software development life cycle

This life cycle—identifying the business challenge and designing, implementing, and deploying the project—involves a complex set of activities that must be performed for a software project to be successful

Prior knowledge of the way a software development life cycle is used to structure a software project will help you understand how the concepts taught in this course fit into this structure

! General understanding of relational database management systems

This course assumes that you have already chosen to use a relational database system Other database management systems are not discussed in depth, and a prior understanding of the uses of relational database

management systems will set the stage for the process of designing such a system

! General understanding of the process of gathering and analyzing business requirements
