1.1 Comparative

a Adjective with a syllable

Ex: She is taller than me.

Sa Pa is colder than Yen Bai

+/ General rule:

+/ Larg e – large r Nic e - nice r

- With adjective ends ‘ e ’ we only add ‘ r ’ after adjective.

Ex : Her house is large r than mine.

1.1 Comparative of adjective

+/ Hot - hot ter Fat - fat ter

- With adjective ends as a consonant, that before

is a vowel, we double consonant and add ‘ er ’ Ex: I am fat ter than my sister.

+/ Dr y – dr ier Ga y – gay er

- Adjective ends ‘ y ’ that before is a consonant,

we change ‘y’ into ‘ i ’ and add ‘ er ’.

Ex : The weather in Vinh city is dr ier than the weather in Yenbai city.

b Adjective with two or more syllables

*- Note : Some adjectives with two syllables end in: ‘ y, er,

ow, et ’, we use as adjectives with a syllable.
