Read this section before you set up the instructor and student workstations and servers
Classroom setup can take several hours Allow adequate time to set
up the hardware and software, and to test the setup
As part of your testing, complete the exercises to ensure that students can complete the exercises without unexpected problems
Set up the Classroom
To set up this course, use the following:
Trang 16Following are the classroom setup requirements:
Table Setup-1 Setup Requirements
Setup Time ■ 6 hour setup
■ 5 hour test Servers 2 servers in each network
Minimum Hardware
A Pentium® II or AMD TM K7 266 Mhz computer, with
■ PCI
■ 2 GB
■ Remove all volumes
■ Housed in an external SCSI enclosure
■ 2 SCSI cables to connect adapters from each server to the 2 connectors on the back of the enclosure
Workstations 2 workstations in each network
Minimum Hardware
A Pentium® II 266 Mhz computer, with
■ 128 MB RAM
■ 9 GB hard disk space
■ CD drive Software ■ Windows 2000 Professional (NTFS
format)
■ Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2
Trang 17Version 1 This document should only be used by a Novell-certified instructor. IG / Setup-3
Copying this document is strictly prohibited To report suspected copying, please call 1-800-PIRATES.
■ Create Student License Diskettes
■ Set Up Classroom Computers
■ Test the Setup
Create Student License Diskettes
The demo licenses found on the NetWare 6 operating system CD are not sufficient for all tasks students perform in this course For this reason, licenses are available on the Novell CNISM Net website. You must provide students with diskettes that contain the needed licenses
WS1 Windows 2000 IP: 192.168.1.71
WS2 Windows 2000 IP: 192.168.1.72
DA1 NetWare 5.1 IP: 192.168.1.81

No OS Installed Adaptec 2940 Adapter Installed
Trang 18Do the following:
1 Download the license from Novell CNI Net:
a Access
http://education.novell.com/cnionly/courses/index.html
b Select the Course 3000 link
c In the CNI Course Materials page, select Classroom Licenses for DA1 and DA2
This downloads 2 folders that contain licenses for the servers and users used in the classroom
DA1 and DA2 each contain a license folder and an NLF file for user licenses The license folder contains an NFK file and an NLF file for the server license
The server NLF and NFK files and the user NLF file in each folder are tied together
For example, this means that server NLF and user NLF that
in the DA1 folder must be used together You cannot user the server NLF from DA1 with the user NLF from DA2
2 Create the DA1 license diskette:
a Label a floppy diskette: DA1 License
b Copy the contents of the DA1 folder to the DA1 license diskette
c Repeat this process until you have a DA1 license diskette for each network in your classroom
For example, a classroom of 12 students will have 3 networks so you must create 3 DA1 license diskettes
3 Create the DA2 license diskette:
a Label a floppy diskette: DA2 License
Trang 19Version 1 This document should only be used by a Novell-certified instructor. IG / Setup-5
Copying this document is strictly prohibited To report suspected copying, please call 1-800-PIRATES.
b Copy the contents of the DA2 folder to the DA2 license diskette
c Repeat this process until you have a DA2 license diskette for each network in your classroom
Set Up Classroom Computers
The classroom setup allows students to perform tasks using as many
of the new features of NetWare 6 as possible
The initial state of each network in the classroom allows students to upgrade from NetWare 5.1 to NetWare 6
WS1 and WS2 are set up to boot Windows 2000
After the upgrade exercise performed in Section 1, students perform
an installation exercise in Section 2 This gives them the opportunity
to do a new server installation and to install a second server into their existing eDirectory tree
Complete the following:
■ Test Each Exercise and Demonstration in Sequence
■ Set Up Servers
■ Set Up Workstations
Test Each Exercise and Demonstration in Sequence
Test the course exercises by setting up servers and workstations using the hardware in your classroom and then performing each exercise and demonstration
After you validate that everything works correctly, set up the classroom for your students
Trang 20❑ The ID for the external SCSI drive must not be 0.
❑ Termination on the external SCSI drive must be disabled
❑ The external SCSI drive should be in a SCSI enclosure, have all volumes removed, and be at least 2 GB (In some cases, you might need to perform a low-level format For more information, see the instructor notes in Section 7.)
❑ Make sure there are 2 SCSI cables for each SCSI drive
2 Install NetWare 5.1 on server DA1, using the following:
❑ Tree name: DIGITALAIRTREE
❑ Server and Admin context: O=DIGITALAIR
❑ Admin password: NOVELL

This course does not teach the following:
■ The basics of TCP/IP, IPXTM to IP migration, TIMESYNC, eDirectory, Novell Storage Services, Certificate Server, Novell Licensing Services, or Novell Distributed Printing ServicesTM
(NDPS®) but assumes that you understand the basics of these topics from previous exposure to them in the NetWare 5 CNE curriculum
■ The NetWare 6 implementation of Apache Web Server
NetWare 6 and the Evolving Network
NetWare 6 serves as a solid platform for Net services by making it possible for the network experience to go where you go This means that user access to files and printers is no longer tied to the Novell client or to the local area network
With NetWare 6, the type and location of storage are transparent to users NetWare 6 can provide constant availability of network resources and services
The mission of NetWare 6 is to provide nonstop access to networked storage and resources and to be the most highly available platform for building OneNet
