¢ Many countries identify technology needs and adaptation

programmes but no resources

¢ Climate Fund has several pledges but little real money

Adaptation funding will amount to tens of Billions of Dollars/year (World Bank, Oxfam and UNFCCC) So far only

a few hundred million Dollars is available from “voluntary”

funding sources (LDCF, SCCF, SGP/GEF, SPA/GEF and bilateral) Adaptation needs to be a “top-level” ; negotiating issue in the post 2012 dialogues/negotiations between Annex I and NÀI

Adaptation Fund not operational because bogged down by

negotiations of who is entitled and how much they should get

¢ Market mechanism of CDM 1s not benefiting all

¢ Lack of action oriented programme while developing countries continue to face adverse impact of climate change;

¢ Will sub-regional programme on adaptation more practical than global one?
