1. If the Adjectives already ending in –E, only add –
R or –ST
large – larger – largest simple – simpler – simplest
2. If an Adjective ending in a Consonant + -Y,
change the –Y to –I before adding –ER or –EST happy – happier – happiest lucky – luckier – luckiest
3. If a one-syllable Adjective ending in 1 Vowel + 1
