- Further practice adverbs of manner

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to use adverbs of manner and modal Should as an advice, commands and requests in reported speech

- Help ss to have good consciousness in order to do some exerises

II WARM UP: (5 minutes)

*Pelmanism:

- Prepare ten cards with numbers (from 1 to 10) on one

side and the adjectives/adverbs on the other

- Make sure the adjective/adverbs are mixed up, then team work

stick them on the black board so that the students can

see the numbers

- Divide the class in to two teams and ask them to

choose two numbers

- Turn the cards over, if they match:

Eg: soft – softly; that team has one mark

- If not, turn the cards over again and ask the next team

to continue

- Go on until all the cards are finished The team

1.Presentation and practice

*Activity 1:

- Revision : Adverbs of manner: There are two kinds a) Adverbs of manner

of adverbs regular and irregular

+ Regular : Adj + Ly -> Adv

ex : sad -> sadly

quick-> quickly

+ Irregular : good(adj) -> well(adv)

hard (adj) -> hard(adv)

fast (adj) -> fast(adv)

* Setting the scene: “use any word from the game

Pelmanism to complete the following sentence”.

ex: Lan has a (1)………voice and she usually speaks T- whole class

(2)………

* Answers:

(1) soft(adj) (2) softly(adv)

- Help students distinguish the use of adjectives and

adverbs

Form: S + V + a/an + adjective + noun

Or: S + be + adjective

S + V + adverb

Use: Adj modifies { the noun after it

{ the subject

Adv.modifies the verb of the sentence

* Exercise 1 page 52

- Ask students to work in pairs to do the exercise 1 on

page 52 Students use the adverbs in the box: softly,

well, fast, badly, hard to fill in the dialogue

* Setting the scene: Tim’s mother went to his school to T- whole class

or: “Can you give Tim this dictionary ?”
