UNIT 1: MY NEW SCHOOL LESSON 6: SKILLS 2 ( P 13 )

A OBJECTIVES:

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to listen to get information about school activities and write a webpage for their school, using correct punctuation + Vocabulary:

+ Grammar:

- Skills: Develop and practce listening and writing skills

- Political thought and moral sence: Educate students to love their school more and they will be interested in learning English more

B TEACHING AIDS:

- Textbook , teacher’s book , lesson plan , board , chalks, pictures and posters, stereo and the CD record

C METHODS:

Chatting, open prediction, correction, retelling, write - it - up.

* Chatting

- T asks Ss some questions:

Do you like your school?

What’s your favourite subject?

Who’s your favourite teacher?

Do you often wear uniform?

When do you have English?

When do you often do your homework?

- Ss answer freely

III.New lesson :

Step 1: Pre – writing:

* Punctuation:

- T tells the class the importance of punctuation marks

- T allows some time for the Ss to study the writing tip

- T explains to them the new words and punctuation marks

capital letter: chữ viết hoa

comma: dấu phẩy

full stop: dấu chấm

questions mark: dấu hỏi chấm

exclaimation mark: dấu chấm than

- T asks Ss to correct the punctuation in the sentences in their notebooks

- T gives an example :

1 Schools starts on the 5th Septemper

- Ss work in pairs to correct the punctuation

- T calls 5 Ss to write the 5 sentences on the board

- T lets the class comment and check

- T gives the correction

3 I’m excited about the first day of the school

4 Are you doing your homework?

5 We’re having an English lesson in class

Step 2 While - writing

* Correction

- T asks Ss to correct the passage and write the correct version

- Ss work in groups and correct

- Ss give feedback then T corrects

+ Answer keys:

* Create a webpage for your school.

- T hangs the poster on the board

- T runs through the questions and gives some eliciting.

+ What’s the name of the school? - Thi Tran Cai Rong school

+ Where is the school ? - In Cai Rong town

+ How many Ss does the school have ? - Five hundreds and thirty three students

+ What do Ss do at school? study many things

+ What is great/ interesting/fun about your school ? - surrounded by mountains and beach, a computer room, a library

+ What is your school day like? - interesting

+ What do you do in the morning? - study and play

+ What do you wear? - uniform + What subject do you like? - maths, English

+ What do you do at break/lunch time? - chat, play

+ What activities do you do? - play sports and games

+ What do you do after school? - do homework, help mom

* Write - it - up. - T gives the instructions: Write a paragraph of about 80 words, covering as many ideas as possible of the answer to these questions - T models Le Quy Don secondary school is in Quang Yen town It is famous for good students

- T checks Ss’ understanding - Ss pay attention to punctuation, structural elements, linking words, etc

- Ss work in groups - > give feedback

- T corrects

Step 3: Post - writing ( Listening )

* Open prediction

- T asks Ss to refer back to the reading: PLC Sydney- introduce Susie Brewer(a student at PLC Sydney)

- T runs through 5 sentences

- T gets Ss to guess

- Ss read their predictions and write them on the board

* Correction

- T lets Ss listen to the tape only the first time

- T plays the recording again and allow Ss to choose the correct answers as they listen

- T gets Ss to work in pairs and compare with their predictions

- T asks Ss to listen to the final time to check

- T calls on some Ss to demonstrate in front of class

- T corrects

* Retelling:

- T calls some Ss retell about Susie Brewer.

+ Example exchange: Her name is Susie.She is eleven years old
