UNIT 1: MY NEW SCHOOL LESSON 2: A CLOSER LOOK 1 ( P 8 ) A.OBJECTIVES:

1 Knowledge: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to practice some

vocabulary about school activities and practice to pronunce the sounds /əʊ / and /ʌ / +

Vocabulary: judo, physics, science, study, interesting

+ Grammar: (study, have, do, play) + Noun

2.Skills: Practice and develope listening and reading and speaking skills

3.Attitude: Educate students to love their new school and they will be interested in

learning English more

4 Competence: Ss can pronunce the sounds /əʊ / and /ʌ / correctly.

- Textbook , teacher’s book , lesson plan , board , chalks, pictures, posters, stereo and the CD record

What and where, rub out and remember, gap - fill, grids and write - it - up

D CONTENTS:

I Oganization: (1 minute)

II Revision / Warmer: (5 minutes)

*What and where.

- T elicits the words from ss and writes on the board inside circles

- T asks Ss to read all the words in chorus one time

- T rubs out word by word but not the circles

- Ss repeat the words and try to remember the words and the posisions of the words

- T divides the class into two groups Ss from each group come to the board and write the correct words into the correct circles

- T corrects and praises the winner

III New lesson: (37 minutes)

1 Vocabulary (20 minutes)

* Activity 1: Listen and repeat ( Part 1)

- T explains some words for students

- judo (n): môn võ judo (Translation)

- physics (n): môn vật lý ( Example)

- science (n): môn khoa học (Example)

- study (v): học, nghiên cứu (Situation)

- interesting (adj): thú vị (Situation)

* Concept check: Rub out and remember.

- T hangs the poster with the list of words on the board

- Ss listen

- T plays the recording again and pause for Ss to repeat each word

* Activity 2: Put the words into groups ( Part 2)

- T hangs the poster on the board then runs through the poster

- T gives the instructions: You put the words in part 1 into groups

- T models the first one

- T checks Ss’ understanding

- Ss work in pairs in about 2 minutes and write their answers on a poster

- T gets one poster on the board then checks

- T explains which words go with each verb

- T shows the poster on the board
