The easiest ways to create a drawing format is to use an existing format provided by Pro/ENGINEER Save the format in your directory under a different name, and
modify it as required
This technique will keep the sheet in ANSI/ASME standard size and format with its standard title block The parameters can be added to the drawing template so that the appropriate information can be displayed where appropriate
Before you begin creating a new template, set to your working directory where you want to store the template files
File -> Set Working Directory…
Click on
to create a new directory Note that you

To accept specified working directory
File -> Open

System Formats

– a “C” size format Click Open You can create any number of personal format using this method, e.g b.frm or
a.frm
The c.frm template is opened as shown below
Trang 5File -> Save a Copy…
Enter the New Name e.g njit_c_format Click OK
Trang 6File -> Erase -> Current
Click on Yes
Open the newly save template file
The File Open dialog box appears

Click to zoom in the title block area – see figure below
Trang 8For every drawing, the title block is filled with standard data or data unique to the design There are two types of text in Pro/ENGINEER:
1 Parameter text that will automatically reflect the design when the format is added to a drawing in DRAWING MODE Note that there are two different types of parameters that can be used in a format: Pro/ENGINEER parameters (e.g &model_name, &scale etc) and user-defined parameters (e.g material etc.)
2 Plain text which does not change when the format is added Example of plain text is company name etc
Add the plain text to the title block
Click on Create a note icon , or select
Insert -> Node
Select Make Note
Trang 9Pick the location for the text as shown in the figure
Enter the text:
NEW JERSEY INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
Press Enter Press Enter again to finish the text
Click on again, and repeat the same procedure to create the following texts – see figure below
Pick this LOCATION for the text

Blueprint MT
Uncheck the Default box, and change the text Height to
0.125

Close
Manually move the text to better organize the title block To do so, click the text using left mouse button
Trang 12If necessary, move again the texts, and the title block texts should be as shown below

in the DRWN BY: box such as shown on the left Enter the drawing size C under SIZE box
Next, we will enter the system parameters Pro/ENGINEER parameters include:
&dwg_name
&todays_date
&scale
&type (drawing model type)
&format (format size)
&linear_tol_0_0 through &linear_tol_0_000000
&angular_tol_0_0 through & angular_tol_0_000000
¤t_sheet
&total_sheets
Make sure Caps Lock is off Create the note that will display the model name in the Part Name area in the title block
From Insert pull-down menu, select Notes -> Make Note
Pick the location in the PART NAME box
Type: &model_name and press Enter

Change the font to Blueprint MT Click on OK
Trang 15Repeat the same procedure for SCALE box – see figure below
Change the font and text height for DRAWING SCALE to Blueprint MT and 0.1 in
The last thing to be entered is sheet number as shown below,
To save the drawing template, select

To use the newly created drawing template,
File -> Erase -> Current

Start a new drawing,
Click Create a new object icon
Type the desired drawing name e.g test
Uncheck Use default template

Navigate to the directory where the customized drawing template is saved

Trang 20Note that the entries in the title block will be added automatically when the model part is added in the drawing
