Quad Loop Extender Module (QLX)

The QLX module is a fiber loop converter that provides cost-effective, reliable transmission of 4 DS1 signals, utilizing 6 Mbps optical DS2 transport, up to 20 miles It converts four multiplexed DS1 signals into an optical DS2 for delivery over single-mode optical fibers The optical DS2 is converted back to four DS1s at the customer premises The QLX utilizes two fibers, with either an FC or SC type connector, and can operate in protected or non-protected modes Non-protected mode requires one QLX module per four DS1s installed in the Soneplex Loop Extender Chassis at the central office, and one QLX module at the remote end Protected mode requires two QLX modules at each end of the circuit and is selectable

by software for either line or path protection Integrated network management enables extensive alarms and diagnostic capabilities

At the central office, the QLX module can be used in an ADC Soneplex Loop Extender chassis or in an industry-standard 3192 repeater shelf with an optional adapter board At the customer premises, the QLX module fits into either a two or four position remote chassis available from ADC
