Period1: * Aim: - Introduces about new English of The tenth grade

Unit1: A day in life of

Lesson one: (Period 2) Reading

I Objectives:

1 Educational aims: - Students understand more about farmers’daily works and

share in their strenuous work

2 General knowledge: - Students know about Mr Vy and Mrs Tuyet’s daily

routines

New words: buffalo, go off, plough, harrow, pump, plot, fellow, peasant,

transplanting,

contented

3 Skills: Scanning and intensive reading

II Procedure:

1) Warm-up : 5 minutes

- Teacher writes some words and introduces :

( Match word in A with word in B )

- Teacher asks some questions :

Eg: 1) Where does a teacher work ?

2) Where does a worker work ?

3) Where does a farmer work ?

- Afterthat: leads in new lesson

-To understand more about the life of a farmer, to day

we learn: Unit1 A DAY IN THE LIFE OF

- Teacher gives handout and asks Ss : ( photo bài

đọc )

* Do you want to know about your friends daily

routines ?

 Work in pairs: Ask and answer questions about

your friends daily routines.

Eg: A) What time do you often get up ?

B) I often get up at six

A) What time do you often go to school ?

B) I often go to school at 6.30 a.m

- Teacher asks some students to talk in pairs

- Ss match word in A with B and answer some questions

Eg:

1) She/he works at a school 2) She/he works at a factory 3) She/he works in the field -Look at the board and write subject of lesson

- Work in pairs, Answer and answer some questions

Eg: + I often get up at six

+ I often go to school at 6.30 a.m

- Talk in pairs

2) Pre- reading: 10 minutes

- Teacher asks all students :

* Do you want to know about farmers daily routines

?

- Teacher shows some pictures of farmers’daily

works :

- Teacher uses them to teaches these words:

Leading buffalo to the field

Peasant = farmer

- Look at the pictures to predict the meaning of words

Repairing the banks of the plot of land

Fellow (n) = friend

Pumping water

Transplant (v) = do the transplanting

Ploughing and harrowing

Plot of land

- Teacher asks all students to read and remember

- Listen and read them again

3) While- reading: 25 minutes

- Teacher asks all students to open their books and

read the text silence quickly

* you are going to read about the daily

routines of 2 farmers

( Mr Vy and Mrs Tuyet They are a married

couple )

- Teacher goes around and observes to help them

* Have you finished yet?

Task 1: Choose the option A, B, or C that best suits

the meaning of the italicised words ( goes off, to get

ready, chat, contented with )

- Asks all Ss to do it and compare their answers with a

partner quickly

- Asks some students to bring out their answers and

translate these sentences

- Teacher can explain the meaning of these words if

they need

Task 2: Answer the following questions

- Asks all Ss to read the text again and find out some

informations to answer the questions

- Teacher goes around and observes to help them

- Calls some students to ask and answer or teacher

1) What is Mr.Vy s occupation ?

Student : He is a peasant / farmer

2) What time does he get up and What does he do

after that ?

After that : Asks all Ss to close their books and

Teacher shows all pictures again ( eg: get up 4:30

a.m )

- Call some Ss to ask and answer the following

pictures

( work in pairs )

- All students have to open their books and read the text silence quickly

- Listen to teacher introduces Task 1

- All students do it and compare their answers with a partner quickly

- Some students bring out their answers and translate these sentences

- All Ss read the text again and find out some informations to answer the questions in Task2

- Work in pairs: Ask and answer the following questions in their books :

1) He is a peasant / farmer 2) He gets up at 4:30 and then he goes down

to the kitchen to boil some water for his morning tea

3) In the morning he ploughs and harrows his plot of land, drinks tea and smokes local tobacco during his break 4) In the afternoon, they repair the banks of their plot of land Mr.Vy pumps water into it while his wife does the transplanting

Task 3: Scan the passage and make a brief note

about Mr.Vy and Mrs Tuyet s daily routines.

Then compare your note with a partner ( chia líp

- Teacher asks all Ss to read the text again and find out

In the

morning

- 4:30: alarm goes off, Mr.Vy gets up, goes down to the kitchen, boils water for tea, drinks tea, has a quick breakfast, leads the buffalo to the field

- 5:15: leaves the house

- 5:30: arrives in the field, ploughs and harrows his plot of land

- 7:45: takes a rest

- 10:30: goes home

- 11:30: has lunch with family

In the

afternoon

- 2:30 p.m: Mr.Vy and Mrs.Tuyet

go to the field again, repair the banks of their plot of land He pumps water into it She does the transplanting

- 6:00 p.m: finish work

- 7:00 p.m: have dinner

After

dinner

- watch TV, go to bed

- sometimes visit neighbours, chat with them

- Then compare their notes with another partner

4) After you read: 5 minutes

- Teacher asks all Ss to close their books and look at

the pictures again

- Let Ss work in pairs and talk about the daily routines

of Mr.Vy and Mrs Tuyet

- After that : Calls some pupils to go to the board to

talk the following pictures

* Do you want to talk about your mother or father s

daily routines ?

- All students close their books and look at the pictures again

- Work in pairs and talk about the daily routines of Mr.Vy and Mrs Tuyet

- Some pupils go to the board to talk the following pictures

Lesson two: (Period 3) Speaking

I Objectives:

1) Aim: - Help students to speak about the daily routines.

2) Skill: - Fluency in talking about the daily routines.

II Procedure:

1) Warm-up : 5 minutes

- Teacher brings out a board of 10 subjects in school :

( Subjects are learnt in school )

- Asks all students to look at this board about three

minutes

Eg:

1 Civic education 6 Biology

2 Technology 7 Chemistry

3 Maths 8 Physical education

5 Literature 10 History

- Asks them to remember 10 subjects again and talk

about it

- Checks who can tell many subjects

- After that : Leads in new lesson

- Look and remember ten subjects

- and then talk about them

- Listen to introduce new lesson

2) Pre- speaking: (5mn) Talk about hours

- Teacher gives handout and introduces how to do:

( Match a number in A with a phrase in B )

3) While- speaking: ( 25 mn )

Task1: - Teacher introduces task1 how to do

- Teacher and another student can read the examples

again

- Teacher asks students to see information in the time

table to ask and answer about Quan

- Asks all students to work in pairs

- Teacher goes around and observes to help and then

checks them

- Play roles to repeat the examples

- Work in pairs and see information in the time table to ask and answer about Quan

Task 2: Talk about Quan’s activities, using the

pictures in your books

- Teacher can set up questions at the simple present

tense :

Eg: * What does Quan do at 2 p.m?

P1:  He gets up after taking a short nap

- Asks students working in pairs to ask and answer

- Teacher asks all students to talk about Quan’s

activities in the evening

- Asks some students to stand up and talk about

Quan’s activities

- Look at the pictures to talk about Quan’s activities

- Some students present in front of the class

4) After – speaking: speaking: (10mn )

Task3: Tell your classmates about your daily routines.

 Suggestion: Teacher can bring out hours.

Eg: 6 a.m , 6:30 a.m , 7:15 a.m , 11:45 a.m ,

12:00 , 2p.m , 4p.m , 6p.m ,

- Asks students to work in groups after that calls some

students to stand up and talk about their daily

routines

- Work in groups

- After that: some students stand up and talk about their daily routines

5) Homework:

- Teacher asks all students to write about their

parents’daily routines

- Asks all students to prepare listening lesson at

home

- work in groups ( May write at home)
