1 Position Summary:

Position title: Trainer cum Program Officer- Client Training and Capacity Building Program Location(s): Hanoi Office

Nationality Local Vietnamese only

Reporting line(s) and

networks: • Primary reporting line will be to: Team Leader of Client Training and

Capacity Building Program

• Regular liaison will be required with partnering organizations and Hagar beneficiaries

Purpose of position: To support the implementation of Hagar Vietnam’s Social programs This

position will work directly in providing training services using creative art methods and adult training theories, and supporting capacity building

activities for Hagar partners

Major challenges

facing this position: • Women’s background of trauma and violence may affect participation in

the program, other barriers to learning and their career development

• Helping to address issues of stigma and discrimination that arise with women’s background

• Helping to develop a more positive self concept in the women to enable learning to occur and to foster empowerment

• Helping women to feel ownership over the process; engaging the women and helping them to be open to positive change

• Hagar’s social program uses a student-centred training methodology, traditional methods of training will not be used

2 Main Duties:

Accountability: Specific Activities:

Task 1 Providing training services and implementation of the training program (60%)

Providing training

• Facilitate different training courses in personal development, life skills, job readiness soft skills, as well as other short courses using creative art and learner-centred methods that provide learners with choice, challenge and the opportunity to work together

• Responsibility to ensure that resources, logistics are in place for training sessions/activities

• Responsible for completing training completion report, incorporating learning outcome assessment of learners and their feedback of

• Monitor students progress towards meeting their stated goals through ongoing observations, informal discussions, student reflection, peer feedback and formal assessment

• Provide feedback to students when necessary to improve their progress in the training and also during job placement

system development • Assist in continuous revision and adaptation of curriculum, training

materials and tools to respond to the needs of learners

• Support in conducting learning need assessment, new course design, materials and training tools development and piloting

Supporting training

logistics and staffing • Responsible for communicating annual, quarter and monthly

training calendar to concerned staff and partners

• Responsible for training expenses advance and reconciliation for each course

• Responsible for the preparations and purchases of training materials and equipment

• Mobilize and manage trainers and training volunteers according to the training implementation plan and expected outputs

• Coordinate and network with external training partners to enhance the provision for trainings to relevant targeted groups

• Support in identifying prospective partners and specialists to facilitate activities related to capacity building in adult and creative training methodologies

Task 2 Providing supports for Capacity Building (CB) program (30%)

• Support in Capacity Building need assessment with partners and Hagar staff, including development and refinement of assessment tools, implementation of the assessment and synthetisation of the needs assessment outcomes to inform CB activity design

• Support in mobilizing CB specialist according to the implementation plan and expected outputs

• Support in logistical preparations when conducting CB activities at provincial levels, including logistical arrangements for Hagar personnel, counter partners and beneficiaries

• Support in training expenses advance and reconciliation after the completion of CB activities

• Support in collecting participants feedback on the relevancy and quality of CB activities upon CB activity completion

Task 3 Providing general program and office support (10%)

3 Personal Profile Required:

Experience • Experience working with NGOs and vulnerable groups

• Experience in community based training/facilitation and capacity building using art based and learner-centred approaches

• Experience working with people from backgrounds of trauma and violence desirable

• Proven experience in working with people from diverse backgrounds (e.g economic, social, cultural), government partners (women’s union, ministry of labours and social affairs, ministry of public security) and social enterprise partners

Education &

Training

• Background/Education in Social Work or related field

• Teacher or Facilitation training

• Training in curriculum development and implementation

Skills • Curricular development and adult training

• Excellent skills working with disadvantaged clients

• Excellent coordination, organizing, networking skills

• Advanced fluency in written/spoken English is an asset

• Microsoft Word/Excel/Access

• Proven ability to be a team player
