Migrating to IHO Certificate for S-63 1.1 in Northrop Grumman Sperry Marine ECDIS

This guide is based on the Sperry VisionMaster FT ECDIS

To install S63 1.1 Data the latest IHO certificate will need to be installed in your ECDIS The

IHO.CRT is located on any AVCS S-63 1.1 Media To install it please insert the S-63 1.1

Media into your ECDIS and follow the steps below:

Launch the Chart Installer

1 Click the “Show Menu” button situated to the right of the menu bar at the bottom of

the display

2 Click on the “Charts” button in the “Main Menu”

A “Charts” menu is then displayed as shown below

3 Click on the “Chart Tools” button in the “Charts” menu

4 Click on the “Chart Installer” button in the “Chart Tools” menu

1 Migrating from PRIMAR.CRT to IHO.CRT

5 When the “Chart Installer” button is clicked the user is presented with an “Action

Required” dialog as shown below Click “Yes” to continue to the Chart Installer

application

Installing the new certificate

1 Ensure ‘Install/Update/License Charts’ and ‘S-63’ are selected

2 Select ‘Next’

3 To review which certificates have been installed select the drop down To load S-63

1.1 data the IHO.CRT should be selected from the drop down

4 If a new certificate needs to be installed select ‘Install Certificate’

5 Browse to the location of the certificate and select ‘Open’ to load the certificate

The IHO.CRT has now been installed and S-63 1.1 data can be loaded into the ECDIS

Note: When installing S-63 1.1 data the IHO.CRT must be selected from the dropdown

before selecting “Next”

2 Reverting to PRIMAR.CRT

The Sperry ECDIS remembers which Public Keys have previously been installed and

therefore should the migration to S-63 1.1 fail you should not need to re-install the

PRIMAR.CRT to be able to load data from S-63 1.0 media

However, when installing data from S-63 1.0 you will need to select PRIMAR.CRT from the

dropdown before selecting “Next”

If required the PRIMAR certificate can be re-installed by inserting any AVCS S-63 1.0 Media

into your ECDIS and following the same process as described above except this time

selecting the PRIMAR certificate

Your system will now be in the same state as before attempting the upgrade and you can

continue to use AVCS 1.0 data However you should inform your Admiralty Chart Agent

of the problems that you have encountered
