1.GENERAL

This method statement will cover for all task including Brick , plastering ,ceiling , painting,tiling work of clubhouse and central park & 53 units of terrace house & shop house

Minimum mixing period of 1 to 2 minutes after water is added - shall be

checked by QA/QC in timely manner for each mixing place

Mixed mortar shall be used within 60 minutes; Mixed mortar if not used within

60 minutes shall be discarded as “Reject” - shall be checked by QA/QC Mixed mortar is transported by wheelbarrows or other appropriate method The size of gauge box or plastic tank (0.018m3), i.e 01 bag of cement (50kg

or 0.036m3) mixed with 12 gauge box (0.162m3) of sand

2.2 Laying and Jointing

All clay bricks shall be moistened by water before being laid Top of walls, where left off, shall be well wetted before recommencing laying

All joints are to be flushed up and grouted mortar in solid as the work

proceeds

Walls shall be constructed up in a uniform manner, no one portion being

raised more than 1 m above another at any time

Before mortar sets, joints shall be tooled by manual / electrical hand tools to required profiles to receive the appropriate finishing

Completed faces shall be left smooth, dense and free from voids and other irregularities

Tools of standad types and designs shall be used for all operations

Joints or edges, which are to receive sealing materials, shall be raked out

before mortar has set, to the required depth, and contact / exposed surfaces left clean and smooth

When cured and before mortar grouting, joints shall be re-inspected and re- pointed as directed with Engineer

During laying, work shall be covered and protected to extend hydration

period without any damage to the work

2.3 Height of Walls

The following walls shall be fully constructed between floor slab and upper level slab unless otherwise indicated on the Drawings:

 walls along corridors,

 wall surrounding rooms to be covered by gas fire protection system,

 wall surrounding rooms not to be provided with suspended ceiling systems,

 wall surrounding kitchen or pantry, toilet, shower room and locker room walls

:> The bottom level of top concrete stiffener beam for walls shall be at least 25

mm higher than finished ceiling level

2.4 Openings for Frames

:> Openings for doors, windows, etc., shall be properly marked out and left unbuilt until the frames have been fixed in position

:> Width of opening up to 2000mm

:> Width of opening up to 2000 mm

:> All door frames, window frames and louver frames, plates, etc., shall be bedded in mortar of type M2 specified in Division 20030

:> All frames shall be carefully fixed and stayed in position and shall be

anchored into walls, one end securely to frame, and other end built into joints of masonry Anchors shall be spaced as shown on the drawings

:> In case the width of opening wall greater than 2.7m, it shall be provide

stiffener column as showing on the sketch

2.5 Holes, Openings, Mortises, Chases, etc

:> Holes, mortises, chases, grooves, etc., shall be cut or formed as required for all pipes, ducts, cables, beams and the like

:> All supports for pipes or ducts shall be cut and pinned or built-in

:> Masonry shall be made good around pipes, ducts, cables, bearers and

supports by building in, grouting and neatly and tightly sealing in either mortar, sealants or fire proof materials

2.6 Reinforcement Columns and Beams

:> Every vertical angle in masonry walls shall be made by constructing a

reinforced concrete stiffener column to the full wall thickness - Tops of all walls shall, according to the details indicated on the Drawings shall always

be finished by constructing a reinforced concrete stiffener beam

:> The height of brick wall must not exceed 3200 mm and the length of brick wall must not exceed 8000 mm If exceed, the brick wall shall be furnished with RC elements And also for every end of brick wall and every joint of brick wall must be furnished with RC elements

2.7 Bonding Ends and Heads of Walls

:> Masonry walls abutting concrete or steel columns and beams shall be

adequately tied by the use of 6 mm diameter steel reinforcing bars or approved anchors/bonding ties, built into the concrete and securely fixed to steelwork

:> stacking method

:> Walls shall have bars and anchors / bonding ties every 550 mm vertically at ends - Dowel bars showing on the sketch above are to be alternative to chemical anchor as approved

2.9 Completion Requirements

:> Exposed surfaces shall be clean and free from dust, dirt, mortar smears or streaks, broken units, chips, cracks, misaligned or improperly fitted joints, stains, discoloration, or other defects or damage

:> Each partition or screen wall shall be erected straight, plumb, level and

accurately positioned at locations required
