Trang 3The Index of IMO Resolutions provides an indexed guide to all the resolutions adopted by the Assembly
and other organs of IMO from the inception of the Organization in January 1959 to December 1994.The entries also include the resolutions adopted by the Consultative Meetings of the Contracting Par-ties to the Convention on the Prevention of Marine Pollution by Dumping of Wastes and Other Matter,
1972 (London Convention), for which IMO acts as Secretariat *
The publication is divided into the following sections:
Section 1 - a numbered list of subjects dealt with in the resolutions
Section 2 - a list of resolutions adopted by the Assembly, the Council, the Maritime Safety Committee,
the Marine Environment Protection Committee, and the Consultative Meetings of ing Parties to the London Convention, arranged in numerical order under each of the adopt-ing bodies This section also indicates the subject number under which each resolution islisted in section 3
Contract-Section 3 - a list of resolutions arranged under the subject numbers given in section 1
The present edition brings the Index of IMO Resolutions up to date up to the end of December 1994.
Resolutions adopted at the seventeenth and eighteenth sessions of the Assembly, at the sixty-second
to seventy-second sessions of the Council, at the fifty-eighth to sixty-fourth sessions of the MaritimeSafety Committee, at the thirtieth to thirty-sixth sessions of the Marine Enviroment Protection Commit-tee, and at the thirteenth to seventeenth Consultative Meetings of Contracting Parties to the LondonConvention have been added to those in the second edition
Each resolution is normally classified under only one subject heading When a resolution relates tomore than one subject, the choice has generally been made of the single most logical heading underwhich to classify it The numbering scheme used is identical to that of the second edition
Exceptionally, however, a resolution may be classified under two different headings (one primary andone secondary), in which case both heading numbers are given in the appropriate column in the list
in section 2, the primary heading being given first The resolution is also entered under both headings
in the list in section 3, where the entry corresponding to the secondary heading is marked by anasterisk
