In order to obtain good results in Writing 1, before a class, students should study and review vocabulary relating to the lessons It would also be very helpful if students found related like texts on the internet or from other materials to learn conventions to write the same genre

Although I have tried to compile this material as accurately as possible, it is difficult to avoid making some mistakes I welcome any further comments and criticisms that may assist in improving this Writing 1 Thank you

a I’ve phoned the engineer He’s coming tomorrow morning

b I’ve put it under the table in the hall See you later

c The next train isn’t untill 11.30, so don’t wait for her

2 Writing techniques:

- Write time and day/date if it is important

- Leave out unnecessary words if you wish Full sentences are not necessary

especially in notes/messages to friends and family members

- You may make notes clearer and more interesting by using:

- capital letters,

- extra marking (underlining, circling, heavy printing),

- punctuations (exclamation marks, question marks).

- You may end notes/messages in any way you like

- When you send a message by email/phone, you can make text messages very

short Match the texts to the meanings

1 Thanks for your text

2 Can you go tonight?

3 don’t be late

4 I love you
