School Year is Too Short
Student achievement in Vietnam must be improved considerably in order
to improve children’s test score and learning This is also good to keep kids in a safe environment Many people think that students do not have enough time to study, so the school year should be extended
First, lengthening the school year means more time for studying subjects that are often overlooked Students nowadays have too many subjects at school that they cannot learn all of them A longer school year results in more academic results and greater learning because more time is allotted for children to practice
Second, the long summer vacation is a waste of valuable time Most students forget much of what they have learned during the school year They become lazy and have no motivation to study because they like to enjoy their holiday Lengthening the school year helps reduce mindless TV watching or video game playing
However, some measures should be adopted to mitigate the adverse effects of an extended school year Many think that the length of the school year does not affect test scores because many students receive much parental and tutored support at home Besides, children need time to relax and do physical activities after a difficult year of learning To some extent, lengthening the school year has negative effects on children
In conclusion, a long holiday gives students chances to travel for them to become open-minded However, a long school year would benefit Vietnamese students because they could make use of the time to improve their learning
