1 Objectives: Ss will be able to:
Write about a friend within 130 - 150 words based on suggested word cues or idea prompts
2 Duration: 45 minutes
3 Aids: Textbook, board and chalk, OHP, TV, pictures on ppt slides, transparence
papers and markers in different colors
4 Stages of the lesson:

Greets students and introduces the topic of FRIEND on ppt slides
Show some pictures of some characters on the Ppt slides
Asks 4 groups of students to compete by listing adjectives that can be used to described characters’
appearance as many as possible (on board) Checks and counts the numbers of written words and announces the winning groups
Marks/ gives bonus marks or lucky stars Some descriptive adjectives:
Attractive, chubby, slender, bald, curly, heavy, short, green, muscular, fair, fat, stocky, tall, thin, thick, pointed, etc.
Greet T and Listen to the T ‘s instruction Play the competition game.
Work in 4 groups Make a list of adjectives to describe these people
Write the words on board.

Task (a):
Introduces the words to describe personality
- Asks Sts to work individually and volunteer to come to the Board to write the words from the transcripts and match them with their meanings
(All the words are from the passage in English 11 page 20)
Marks Sts with good answers
- Asks Sts to read the words out loud twice
- Asks the Ss to work in pairs, read and complete the passage by filling the practiced words
(Table of given words on page 20 is hidden)
Listen to T and volunteer to work individually on board Listen to the passage and note down the required words

Task (b):
- Introduces the objective of the exercise: Help the
Ss practice how to link ideas to make a logical passage
- Asks Ss to read the sentences and quickly re-arrange the sentences in a logical order.(Sts work
in groups)
- Invites 1-2 Sts to read the topic sentence and invites Sts in turn to continue the paragraph by reading the next sentences in the logical order out loud
- Listens and checks
- Gives the correct order and explanation with focus on the organisation of the passaage:
+ Topic sentence: introduce the topic: Who is the person? When did you meet his/ her? How did you build up the relationship
+ Supporting sentences: Appearance &
Personality (first impression, some key features and examples or details to support the features mentioned…)
+ Concluding sentence: How is the relationship?
What are you two doinng to blossom the frienship?

- Plays the audio clip in which a song about best friends is sung to arouse deep feelings and bring back sweet merories about Sts’ dearest friends with song lyrics appearing on ppt slides (3minutes)
- Listen to the song
Trang 3- Asks all students to write a passage about their friends on transparence papers basing on the passages in task (a) and (b) while some Sts write
on board (10- 12 minutes)
- Reads 1-2 resulting passages on transference papers, Corrects mistakes and gives comments(6 minutes)
- Asks 1- 2Sts to talk about their best friends (4 minutes)
- Listens and marks the speeches with comments
