from the purl ridge on the underside of the cast·

Shape an inverted heart heel by working back

Knit and purl texture patterns should always

be knit at a slightly tighter gauge than expect·

ed You might want to change to needles one

U.S size (.25-.5 mml smaller than the size given in the pattern If the knit-purl pattern is worked loosely on the leg and foot, the purl stitches will have less visual effect and the pattern will look fuzzy and unclear The more switching between knit and purl, the more tightly knit the sock should be The larger the stockinette areas in the texture pattern are, the more similar the gauge will be to stockinette or reverse stockinette

TWISTED CORD BAND

CO 5 sts and work 18 rows in stockinette, always

knitting the first and last st as edge sts Cut yarn and leave the sts on the flexible cable on the cir-cular Make 12 (14) slips the same way Slide the strips down to the end of the needle so that they can be worked in st st on the right side of the

fabric Knot the first two strips:

Place the cast on stitches of the second strip onto

an extra needle and rotate once clockwise Then knit together one st of the first strip together with one cast on st of the second strip The stitches on both needles should present stocki-nette stitch on the right side of the fabric

Bring the stitches from the first strip around the second from back to front Then knit each st of

the second strip together with each cast on edge
