4 PROCEDURE OF PAINTING PROCESS
4.1 Paintings shall be applied for a good even coat, fully covering all surfaces with no paint voids, transparencies or misses
4.2 Paints shall prepared and mixed for application as per manufacturer's instructions, and
all applicable safety and health precautions shall be observed
4.3 All parts and products painted as per requirements of this Instruction nominally shall be
air-dried; no heat-drying shall be used unless prior Engineering Approval for such heat drying method is obtained
4.4 All surfaces to be painted must be dry and free of foreign material and other surface contaminants such as rust oxide, dirt, grease, water, and loose scale that may cause poor paint adhesion
4.5 Serrated flange facing should not have paint runs or be painted thick for interfere with the ability of the flange serrations to form a pressure seal with gasket when bolted into the pipe line
4.6 Interior waterway surfaces should be given a thin coating for rust protection by antirust agent while in storage (Check special instruction as to whether the customer desires other type of rust preventative in this area.)
4.7 Painting shall be performed in accordance with guidance of paint manufacturers, and painting general conditions are as follows

1) The optimum coating temperature : 15 ~ 32℃
※ Typically, paint coating shall not perform at 10℃ or below and 38℃ or higher
2) During painting for prevention of surface condensation, the substrate temperature is
3℃ higher than dew paint
4.8.2 Humidity
Humidity condensation a harmful influence upon paint drying time, therefore coating
shall be performed at 40 ~ 80% humidity
4.8.3 Others
Painting outdoor shall not be performed in foggy, rainy and stormy days
4.9 Painting correction shall be performed in the touch-up method If surface to be painted has broad damaged paint coat, coat the surface in accordance with the first time paint coating procedure
4.10 Painted valves shall be dried before being packed
4.11 Paint may be applied by any conventional process such as hand spray gun, etc., providing good quality coating is obtained Brushes may be used for touch-up and corrections
