UNIT FIFTEEN :

LESSON 1 :

A Objective :

By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to express their opinions about the problem

B Teaching aids : Pictures , posters

C Procedure :

I Warm up : (Getting started) * BRAINSTORMING :

o Write the topic on the board : Computer can help us

o Ask Ss to think of the topic and express their opinions

o Suggestions :

Computers help us learning interestingly

Computers help us save time Help us more quickly

Are convenient easy for keeping/ storing information

Are very quick in giving answers to our questions

II Pre – Reading :

1 Pre-teach vocabulary :

- printer / print : máy in

- (a) manual (explaination) : sách hướng dẫn sử dụng

- (to) connect (mime) : kết nối

- under guarantee (situation) : vẫn còn bảo hành

- a plug (realia) : phích cắm

- (a) socket (picture) : lỗ, hốc

* Checking vocabulary : rub out and remember

2 True – false prediction : b shut groups of 4 Poster

o Set the scene : Nam and his father, Mr Nhat are talking about the problem of the computer they’ve just bought What happens to the computer ?

o Put the chart on the board and have S.S guess which statements are true and which are false

1 The printer isn’t working

2 Nam has already turned the computer on

3 Nam knows how to connect a printer but he hasn’t connected it properly

4 The manual helped them to find out the problem

5 Mr Nhat bought a computer in HCM city and it’s still under guarantee.

6 Mr Nhat thinks the company won’t do anything with his computer because it’s too far from his place

o Call some pairs to give their answer

o Have Ss work in pair again to check if their guesses are right or not

o Explain the words : “Fact and Opinion”

Fact : a thing that is known to be true, especially when it can be

proved

Opinion : Your feeling or thoughts about some one or something, rather than a fact.

o Guess Ss to read the statement and check (v) the suitable boxes

o Call some Ss to give their answers

IV Post reading : * Lucky Numbers

a Is the printer working? (No)

By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to use some common useful expression to express agreement and disagreement

B Teaching aids : Pictures , posters

C Procedure :

I Warm up : * GUESSING GAMES :

“ Do you think that ?”

 Asks each S to think of one of the ways computer are helpful and write on a piece of the paper

 Call on a student to the front of the class

 Get the rest class ask him/her, “do you think that computer “

 The S can only answer Yes or No

 Tell S.s who have right guess get good marks

II Presentation :

1 Brainstorm :

 Write the topic on the board : Useful expression to express

agreement and disagreement

 Put the table on the board and elicit S.s answer than write them on the table
