A COMMON RULES (Quy tắc chung) :

- Mệnh đề trần thuật (statement) ở thể khẳng định  câu hỏi đuôi ở thể phủ định

- Mệnh đề trần thuật (statement) ở thể phủ định  câu hỏi đuôi ở thể khẳng định

- Chủ từ (S) trong câu hỏi đuôi luôn phải là đại từ như : I, We, You, He, She, They, It.

- Dạng phủ định trong câu hỏi đuôi phải dùng ở dạng rút gọn.

C EXCEPTION (Ngoại lệ) :

1 Câu hỏi đuôi của Let’s  luôn luôn là SHALL WE ?

E.g : a/ Let’s go camping next Sunday, shall we ?

b/ Let’s take a bus to save money, shall we ?

2 Câu hỏi đuôi của câu mệnh lệnh khẳng định và phủ định  luôn luôn là WILL YOU ?

E.g : a/ Help me do that exercise, will you ?

b/ Tidy your room right now, will you ?

c/ Don’t do that again, will you ?

d/ Don’t forget to turn off the lights, will you ?

3 Câu hỏi đuôi của :

- I am …  luôn luôn là Aren’t I ?

- I am not  luôn luôn là Am I ?

E.g : a/ I am beautiful, aren’t I ?

b/ I am not tall, am I ?

4 Nếu chủ từ trong câu trần thuật là :

- There  chủ từ trong câu hỏi đuôi vẫn là … there ?

E.g : There is a TV here, isn’t there ?

- This/That  chủ từ trong câu hỏi đuôi là …it ?

E.g : a/ This is Mr Johnson, isn’t it ?

b/ That isn’t Jim, is it ?

- These/Those  chủ từ trong câu hỏi đuôi là … they?

E.g : a/ These are your suitcases, aren’t they ?

b/ Those aren’t your parents, are they ?

- Something, Everything, Nothing  chủ từ trong câu hỏi đuôi là … it ?

E.g : a/ Something is wrong with us today, isn’t it ?

b/ Everything has been OK so far, hasn’t it ?

c/ Nothing is right, is it ?

- Somebody, Someone, Everyone, No one, Nobody, Neither of them, None of them  chủ từ trong câu hỏi đuôi là … they ?

E.g : a/ Somebody has broken my doors, haven’t they ?

b/ Someone has stolen his camera, haven’t they ?

c/ No one helped us finish this work, did they ?

d/ Nobody is going to the mosque with them, are they ?

e/ Neither of them offered to help us, did they ?

5 Nếu câu trần thuật có chủ từ là : Nothing, Nobody, No one, Neither of …., None

of … hay có từ : no, never, little, rarely, hardly, few, seldom, scarcely, un-  câu hỏi đuôi luôn ở dạng khẳng định :

E.g : a/ No one helped us finish this work, did they ?

b/ Nobody is going to the mosque with them, are they ?

c/ Nothing is right, is it ?

d/ Neither of them offered to help us, did they ?

e/ None of them wrote to me, did they ?

f/ It’s no good, is it ?

g/ We carried no money with us, did we ?

h/ She has never met him for a long time, has she ?

i/ Some plants need little water, do they ?

j/ They rarely go swimming together, do they ?
