Trang 8School Direct
The government has made clear its intention to support a ‘school led’ initial teacher training system; with schools choosing how they want their teacher training programme to be delivered, in partnership with accredited ITT providers
‘Training our next generation of outstanding teachers – Implementation Plan’ November 2011
We will launch “school direct” to give more schools the opportunity for close involvement in ITT
Trang 9School Direct – Schools
School Direct was launched this year with around 900 places
allocated to schools for September 2013 recruitment
The school chooses which accredited ITT provider to work with and what they will offer e.g PGCE All places lead to QTS
The school acts as the talent scout to select outstanding trainees and chooses how they are trained
Expectation that schools will employ trainees as teachers within
their alliances or networks once qualified
Supports a system of recruiting teachers in the subjects and phases that are most in need for schools
Trang 10Benefits to trainee
School Direct allows potential teachers to choose the school in which they train with an expectation of employment once qualified
They are headhunted by school
They take control of their teaching career path and type / location of school in which you train
High level of school experience and contact with other teaching
professionals while they train
25% bursary top up if they train in a school where more than 25% students are on Free School Meals (FSM)

Trang 13The advertising concept
1.We need to encourage the target audience to re-appraise teaching
2.We need to give our core audience the facts to support a reappraisal
3.The modern teaching profession offers competitive salaries and financial rewards (including very attractive new bursaries), rigorous training, progression and career opportunities
The idea:
•Show high quality teachers doing high status things
•Use real, fantastic teachers, in real schools
•Include “messages” that point out the various benefits of teaching and correct current misunderstandings about the profession
•Conclude with the line Rewarding Challenging Teaching
