LESSON PLAN

UNIT 1 : HOME LIFE

PART C :LISTENING

I OBJECTIVES :

1 Help Ss listen a conversation between two people talking about their family.

2 By the end o the lesson, Ss will be able to :

- improve such micro listening skills as listening for specific and detail imformation, notes taking

- express their individual opinions about the importances of family

II METHOD :

-Integrted, mainly communicative

III MATERIALS :

- pictures, cassette, tape recorder, worksheet

IV PROCEDURE :

Stage Teacher and Ss’ activities Contents

WARM

-UP

-devide the class in to 6 groups -show 6 pictures and ask each group to find out the name of the pictures and the word of the day by combining the first letter of those names

-make an example:

Cat + Angle + Tree = CAR -have Ss start the game -have Ss give their answer, the fisrt group

to find the correct word is the winner

-lead in new lesson

-picture 1 : Flowers -picture 2 : Apple -picture 3 : Mouse -picture 4 : Ice- cream -picture 5 : Leaf -picture 6 : Yacht

= > FAMILY

PRE-LISTENING - introduce the out line of the lesson and

move to the first part

- show the picture and put Ss into pairs to describe the picture basing on the guiding questions

- call on some Ss to give their description,

Ss can give their opinions freely without correction

- introduce some vocabularies and let Ss read these words chorraly

-elicit the meanings from Ss if necessary

Unit 1 : HOME LIFE

C LISTENING I.Before you listen

1.Describe the picture

Guiding questions : -How many people are there in the pidture ?

-Who do you think they are ? -Are they at the same generation ? -What are they doing ?

-How do they look like ?

- Do you think they have close relationship ?

2 Listen and repeat

-close knit -spreadout -flight -reserved -coach -leftovers

WHILE-

LISTENING

-get Ss to read throught all statements and work out what information they need to concentrate on while listening

-check with the whole class -get S to guess the answer to each question and then tell them they need to listen to attentively to check if their questions are are confirmed

-play the tape once for Ss to do the Task -get Ss to find a partner to check their answers with

-check the answers with the whole class, elicit explanation for their choices -play the tape again to confirm the correct answers

-introduce Task 2 and check if Ss can do it without listening again

-remind Ss to write down only the main pionts in note form

-play the tape again for Ss to listen and fill

in the table

-put Ss into groups to write the answers on

to their worksheet -have Ss stick their worksheet on to the blackboard

-invite class’ opinion and feed back

-let Ss listen again and confirm the correct answers

-introduce the situation and elicit Ss’

opinions

-supply some suggestions -get Ss to work in groups of five -go round checking and offerring helps if necessary

-call on some Ss to present their discussion

-invite other groups’ opinions -give feed back

-Write a short passage about the importances of family

-Prepare new lesson : wrting

III After you listen

Discuss the importance of family

in a person’s life.

-can not be replaced -give love, supports -share joys / sorrows -help overcome difficulties in life

To sum up, family is more important than things
