For the purpose of these Rules the following definitions sholl opply:
-A vessel hoving o drought of l5 metres or more sholl be deemed to be o deep drought vessel
A tonker of 150,000 dwt ond obove sholl be deemed lo be o very lorge crude corrier (VLCC)
Note: The obove definitions do not preludice the definition of "vessel constroined by her drought" described in Rule 3(h) of
the lnternqtionol Regulotions for Preventing Collisions ot ieo,1972.

l Vessels ore recommended to disploy the night signols consisting of 3 oll-round green lightsl in o verticol
line in the following situotions:
o) Vessels deporting from ports or onchoroges when crossing the westbound or eqstbound lone of the TSS
or precoutionory oreos in the Singopore Stroil io join the eostbound or weslbound lone respectively; ond
b) Eostbound or weslbound vessels in the TSS or precoutionory oreos in the Singopore Stroit crossing io
proceed to ports or onchoroges in the Singopore Stroit
2 The night signols should be disployed by:
o) Vessels of 300 gross tonnoge ond obove;
b) Vessels of 50 metres or more in length; ond
c) Vessels engoged in towing or pushing with o combined 300 gross ionnoge ond obove, or with ocombined length of 50 metres or more
3 Vessels crossing the TSS ond precoutionory oreos in the Singopore Stroit to proceed to or from ports or
onchoroges ore recommended to comply with the following procedures:
o) A vessel in the Singopore Stroit which intends to cross the eostbound or westbound troffic lones in the
TSS or precoutionory oreos respectively, is recommended to comply with ihe following:

ii) disploy the signols consisting of 3 oll-round green lights in o verticol line WIS would olert ships
in the vicinity to keep o good look out for the crossing vessel
