Question 12 :

What are the types of questionnaire survey and their advantages and

disadvantages? Thinking

Trang 4

A questionnaire is:

 A printed or typed list of questions, this term is interchangeable with interview schedule

 A written list of question used to collect data

Trang 5

Questionnaire can be:

 Interviewer-completed in which an interviewer

reads out the questions

Eg: An interviewer completes street survey by

stopping people on the street, in shopping malls, etc and reads out the questions to get

information

 Advantages: The use of an interviewer usually

ensures that the responses are more accurate and complete.

 Disadvantages: It takes more time and effort.

Trang 6

Questionnaire can be:

 Respondent-completed in which respondents fill out the

questionnaire for themselves

Eg: For mail survey, questionnaires are sent to selected

people who will complete and return them by mail

 Advantages: Respondent-completed survey is quicker

and easier than interviewer-completed one

 Disadvantages:

The answers are often incomplete and less detailed than in the case of interviewer-completion

A questionnaire for respondent-completion requires more careful attention to layout and presentation since it must

be read and completed by ‘untrained’ people
