LISTENING

Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:
- Listen and talk about other the World Cup, especially about Pelé – a very legendary football player
- Learn more vocabulary, both meaning and pronunciation
- Improve their listening skill

Teaching Aids: Textbook, handouts, power point, CD players, audio CD, etc.

I Warm up: (5 minutes)
- Invite Ss to join a simple activity: Guessing the Year
of some World Cups
- Play 3 short videos of 3 World Cup events
- Ask Ss the year when these World Cups were held
* Lead to the new lesson: Through these World Cups,
there are some legendary football players discovered,
and now we will start the new lesson to know more
about them Unit 14: The World Cup – Listening
- Work individually
- Watch carefully video, raise hand and give the correct answer
- Each student who gives the correct answer will receive a present
+ Suggested answers:
* The 2002 World Cup.
* The 2006 World Cup.
* The 2010 World Cup.
II Pre-listening:
Activity 1: (5 minutes)
- Ask Ss to look at some pictures showed on the
screen
- Call some Ss to give the name of each football player
and which team they played for
- Ask Ss who they like best
Activity 2: (5 minutes)
- Provide some vocabulary
- Give out the words and their meanings in English to
illustrate them
- Ask Ss to give the Vietnamese equivalents
- Give feedbacks
- Ask Ss to write the vocabulary in the notebook

+ To kick (v): look at the video T has just showed.
