Bước 2: Xem thử trong câu có If, wish hay không ? Nếu có thì áp dụng câu điều kiện loại 1, 2, câu ước hiện tại, tương lai để làm bài
Bước 3: Xem thử trong câu có Before, after, by time, when, as soon as hay không ? Nếu có thì áp dụng thì quá khứ hoàn thành để làm bài
Bước 4: Xem thử trong câu có while, when, as mà diễn tả một hành động đang xảy ra thì hành động khác bất chợt xảy
ra Lúc đó ta để động từ đang xảy ra ở thì quá khứ tiếp diễn, còn hành động bất chợt xảy ra ở quá khứ đơn
Bước 5: Xem thử dấu hiệu của các thì: Hiện tại đơn, quá khứ đơn, hiện tại tiếp diễn, quá khứ tiếp diễn, hiện tại hoàn thành,
tương lai đơn
C Wish clause in the future (Câu ước ở tương lai)
a Đối với bài tập để động từ trong ngoặc ở dạng đúng hoặc thì đúng
- Nếu trong câu có động từ wish / wishes và bắt buộc phải kèm theo các trạng từ: tomorrow, next week, next month, next year, next Sunday, next summer, in 2010, when I grow up (khi tôi lớn lên), in the future (trong tương lai), soon (ngay) thì động từ trong ngoặc ta sẽ để như sau:
- (V) would + V
- (not V) wouldn’t + V
- (be) would + be
- (not be) wouldn’t + be
- (can) could
- (not can) couldn’t
b Đối với bài tập viết lại câu
- Chúng ta phải xem xét dạng của động từ chính, nếu nó có các dạng sau nay thì ta sẽ đổi tương ứng:
- will / shall + V wouldn’t + V
- will not / won’t + V would + V
- shall not / shan’t + V would + V
