UNIT 14: FREETIME FUN Lesson 2: Time for TV (A2)

I Objectives:

1 Education aim:

2 Teaching aim: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

* to express what they do in their free time,

* to invite or suggest someone and reply to an invitation or suggestion

* tell about their favor and their favorite T.V program

* develop speaking skill

II Preparation:

1 Techniques: eliciting, describing, work in pairs

2 Teaching aids: textbooks, color chalks, tape, poster

III Procedures:

- Greeting

- Checking attendance

1.WARM - UP:

- Let students play guessing game

What is it? It plays at the theater.

- Eliciting questions

What do you often do in your free time?

Would you like to go to the movies?

What kinds of films do you like to watch?

2 PRE- SPEAKING:

- Ask students to look at the advertisements

- Explain them

- Ask questions

+ What program is there on at the …?

+ Where is the ……… on at?

+ What time is it on?

+ On what day/date is it on?

- Introduce the dialogue

- Have students some new words

A cowboy movie

A detective movie

-Have students listen and repeat new words after the teacher

- Ask them to recognize the structure they have learned

- Give feedback

+Invitation: ‘Would you like + to ………?

Agreement > That sound good/ I’d love to.

Disagreement > I’d love to, but I can’t.

+ Suggestions:‘How about…?’ ‘What about …?’

‘Let’s + V- infi………’

Ex: How about Tuesday? >No, sorry.

Ex: What about Friday? > That’s OK.

Ex: Let’s go on Friday.

2 While – speaking:

- Have students listen to the tape

- Have students practice in pairs

- Let students practice in pairs alternating roles call on some

pairs to perform

- Ask questions

a What would Hoa like to see at the New Age Theater?

b Can she go on Monday night? Why not?

c Can Lan go on Tuesday? Why not?

d Is she free on Wednesday?

e Is Hoa free on Thursday?

f On what day are they going to the movie?

4 POST – SPEAKING:

- Ask them to look at the advertisements again and discuss

the program they will see by making up the similar dialogues

- Call on some pairs to read their dialogues

- Correct mistakes

5 HOMEWORK:

- Choose one of the advertisements to write a dialogue

- Learn new words and the structures by heart

- Exercises A 2,3/p.88,89 (workbook)

- Prepare lesson 3: A3 ( vocabulary)

- Play guessing game

M O V I E

- Listen to the teacher then answer questions

- Look and read

- Listen to the teacher’s explanation -Look at the advertisements to answer the questions
