LESSON PLAN – LISTENING

1 Teaching point: Listening

2 Aim: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to listen to get specific information

3 Content: Unit 12: “Music” – English 10

4 Student level: 10th form

5 Class size: 50 students

6 Time: 45 minutes

7 Materials: textbooks, blackboard, chalk, hand-outs, projector

8 Anticipated problems: Students (Ss) may not know many vocabulary items related

to music, so Teacher (T) should be ready to introduce some

9 Procedure

T divides the whole class into 2 groups: A & B Each group

will join the small competition in turn

Rule: + Ss in each group choose 1 people in their own group

to come to the board and write answers

+ In turn, in 2 mins, each group will hear 4 pieces of

music, listen to T’s questions, and give answers Which group

has more right answers will be the winner; in case 2 groups

have the same number of right answers, the quicker will be

the winner

Question: Listen to a piece of music, and tell the

name, the composer/the singer, and the type of music it

belongs to Remember only 1 answer is accepted Be quick

and be careful ^^

Group A:

1 Autumn heart, Instrumental music

2 Ly Cay Bong Folk music

3 I don’t care 2NE1 Korean Pop

4 Lang toi Van Cao

Group B:

1 Swan lake Classical music

2 Tien quan ca Nam Cao

BEFORE YOU LISTEN

- T asks Ss to look at the pictures on slides and ask them who

he is

- T gives the list of songs and asks Ss whether they are Van

WHILE YOU LISTEN Task 1

- Before Ss listen and do the task, T instructs them to use

some strategies:

+ First, read through the statements to understand them and

underline key words

+ Listen to the tape and pay attention to key words

+ Decide whether they are true or false based on what they

can hear

- Play CD the first time, T asks for Ss’ answer and write them

on the board Play CD the second time Call some Ss to give

their own answers, and their explanations

Task 2

explain their answers
