Trang 3I am an apple pie Look at my golden crust! Andy, Brad, and Mom made me
Trang 4First they traveled to the store
to get some apples When they got home, Andy found a large
blue pie dish Mom asked Brad to rub a little butter on the inside of
it I was glad about that I did not want my crust to stick to the dish.
Trang 5Mom cut up the apples There were a lot of apples It took a long time Andy and Brad put them into the dish Andy poured a little melted butter over the apples.
Trang 6Mom showed Brad how to
do my top crust She cut it into
a round shape It was a little
bigger than my dish Brad
pushed the crust over the side
of the dish
Mom said, “We need to make some cuts in the crust.” This was
so the steam would be able to get out when I was baking
Trang 7Brad said, “Let’s make apple shapes!”
It was almost time to bake
me All I needed was a little milk brushed over my crust Mom put
me in to bake
Trang 8I baked until my apples were soft My crust became light
brown Andy and Brad said,
“What a great pie!”
Trang 9The family carried me to the park Now here I am at a picnic
I hope Andy and Brad are hungry They are in for a treat!

Think Critically
1. What caused the apples to become soft and the crust to turn brown?
2. What did Brad and Mom do to the top crust?
3. Why do you think it was important that Mom put the pie in to bake?
4. Where did the family eat the apple pie?
5. Would you like to eat apple pie? Why or why not?
