One thing about London which every visitor from abroard admires is the large number of parks. They are lungs of London which are like green islands of peace and quiet in the middle of a noisy sea. They play an important part in helping to form the city’s character

The best known parks are, of course, the central ones: St Jame’s Park, Hyde Park, Regent’s Park, and Kensington Gardens which have many attractions.Hyde Park has the Serpentine, a little lake, which is a good place for swimming or rowing and Speaker’s Corner where one may get up and say anything (or almost anything!) one pleases In Regent’s Park there are the zoo and the Open-Air theatre

Kensington Gardens has the Round Pond which is used by “dry land sailors”

of all ages to sail every kind of model yacht St Jame’s Park boasts a truly elegant lake on which live a great variety of wild ducks and, apart from these individual attractions, each park has a greater or lesser expanse of well-kept grass Here, in fine weather, can be seen hundreds of lucky people who have escaped for a while from the noise and bustle of the town, some sitting on chairs, some lying full length on theground, some strolling aimlessly around

1.Miêu tả (descriptive adjs): good,small,fat,flat

2.Chỉ định (demonstrative adjs) :this,that,these,those.

3.Bất định (indefinite adjs) :each,every,some,any,no,few,many

4.Số từ (numeral adjs) : one,two,twenty

5.Nghi vấn (interogative adjs):which,that,whose

6.Sở hữu (possessive adjs): my,your,our,their,his,her,its.

7.Mạo từ (articles):a,an,the.

Ví dụ: There are errors galore in the final exam.

b)Vị trí:Có nhiều vị trí nhng chúng ta cần xét dến 2 vị trí trong câu nh sau;

- He has a good car.

+ Đứng sau động từ “to be,get, look, become, seem” làm đối ngữ cho động từ này:

- My school is large

- She looks beautiful

Trang 21

Ví dụ: +A small black plastic bag.

Ví dụ: + A tall thin girl.

+ a long narrow street

- Nếu có từ hai tính từ chỉ màu sắc trở lên ta dùng liên từ ‘and’:

Ví dụ: +A black and white dress.

+ A red,white and green flag

Ví dụ: + He writes quickly.

+ She dances very beautifully

+ They run very fast

Có tất cả 7 loại trạng từ sau:

1.Thể cách (of manner): quickly,fast,well

2.Nơi chốn (of place):here,there

3.Thời gian(of time): now,then,today

4.Tần suất (of frequency):often,never

5.Mức độ (of degree) :very,too,quite

6.Nghi vấn (interrogative) :when?why?

7.Quan hệ (relative) :when,where,why.

He runs very fast

verb adv adv

She is terribly beautiful

Adv adj

từ Một số các tính từ cũng có tận cùng là ly

Ví dụ:

Lovely, friendly, lonely

Ví dụ:I have terribly a headache (câu sai vì phó từ đứng xen giữa động từ và tân

ngữ )

Trang 22

Ví dụ: In 1975 I graduated but I didn’t find a job.

Ví dụ: - They have often visited me recently.

- He always comes in time

Nhng: The president is always in time

Và nh vậy, chúng ta đã có một số kiến thức nhất định về tính từ và trạng từ trong Tiếng Anh, bây giờ, chúng ta sẽ ôn lại về các cách so sánh mà ta đã đợc học ở lớp 11

1) So sánh bằng.

và ngợc lại nếu cấu trúc so sánh ở dạng phủ định

Cấu trúc

So (as) + adj/adv + as

• Nếu là cấu trúc phủ định as thứ nhất có thể thay bằng so.

Ví dụ: He is not so tall as his father.

L

u ý: Ta cần phải nhớ rằng đại từ sau as luôn ở dạng chủ ngữ.

Peter is as tall as I You are as old as she

red - redder hot - hotter

friendly - friendlier (hoặc more friendly than) clever - cleverer

Trang 23

Subject + verb + + than +

Ví dụ : John’s grades are higher than his sister’s.

Today is hotter than yesterday

This chair is more comfortable than the other

He speaks Spanish more fluently than I

He visits his family less frequently than she does

This year’s exhibit is less impressive than last year’s

est adv

est adj

adv most

adj most

+ John is the tallest boy in the family

+ Deana is the shortest of the three sisters

+ These shoes are the least expensive of all

+ Of the three shirts, this one is the prettiest

+ That child behaves the most carelessly of all

+ Irene plays the most recklessly of all

* Một số tính từ/trạng từ bất qui tắc:

good/well -> the best

bad/badly -> the worst

many/much -> the most

far -> the farthest/furthest

old -> the oldest/eldest (the eldest chỉ dùng chỉ những

ng-ời trong gia đình Ví dụ : I am the eldest sister in my family.)

First, let’s have a look at its history. Two thousand years ago,the English Ilses were inhabited by speakers of Celtic languages.Next to Celtic languages was Latin which was the language of government from 43

the North Sea by the Anglo-Saxons

Although the Anglo-Saxons would be able to recognize many individual

words,it’s the way in which those words are put together to make sentences that would be hardly recognizable to them

Many people say it’s the flexibility of function of individual words, the

assimilation of borrowings and the spontaneous creation of new words that have made English an effective medium of international communication

In the world today, there are 5,000 to 6,000 living languages,of which English

is by far the most widely used.As a mother tongue, it ranks second only to Chinese, which is little used outside China

Approximately 350 million people speak English as their first language.About the same number use it as a second language. It is the English language that is used

as the language of aviation, international sport and pop music.75% of the world’s mail is in English, 60% of the world’s radio station broadcast in English and more than half of the world’s periodicals are printed in English
