Practise reading aloud these sentences

1 There was a strong man on the street at night.

2 The strong man looked very strange.

4 The man was eating the ice-cream, squeezing the doll and it was squeaking.

5 The man was screaming while walking to the square.

6 Nobody knew why he was doing the strange things.

Example 1:

I like a book.

Nguyen Du wrote it many years ago.

I like the book which Nguyen Du wrote many years ago.

I like the book Nguyen Du wrote many years ago.

Example 2:

Our house is very beautiful.

We bought it last year.

Our house which we bought last year is very beautiful.

Our house we bought last year is very beautiful.

Example 3:

Our house is very beautiful.

We have lived in it for 2 years.

Our house which we lived in for 2 years is very beautiful Our house we lived in for 2 years is very beautiful.

Example 4:

This girl is very intelligent

I talked to her yesterday.

The girl whom I talked to yesterday is very intelligent.

The girl I talked to yesterday is very intelligent.

Note: We can omit the relative pronoun when it

is the object of the verb and preposition.

Exercise 1: Complete each of the following sentences, using a suitable sentence in the box to make a relative clause without a relative pronoun.

we had it for lunch we met him this morning

John told them he invited them to the birthday party

you lost it I bought it yeasterday
