I Objectives:

By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:

- Develop their skill of listening for specific information

- Talk about the disadvantages of over-reading

II Materials:

Textbook, posters, pointer, pictures, cassette player, etc

III Anticipated problems:

Ss may not have catch some information, so T should be ready to assist them

IV Procedure:

- Ask one student go to the board and talk about his/her hobbies

- Elicit comments from the class and give marks

- Ask Ss to list benefits of reading books (ask Ss to find out as much as they can if necessary)

- Ask for Ss’ ideas and write on the board

- May add some more benefits if necessary

- Pre-teaching new words:

- Ask Ss to look at the new words in the book and give their meanings in Vietnamese

- Play the cassette twice and ask Ss to repeat

- Before Ss listen, ask Ss to look through sentences in task 1

- Play the tape twice for Ss to listen and do the task

- Ask Ss to share their answers with their partners

- Call some Ss to give their answers and explain their answer in front of the class

- Play the tape again for Ss to check their answers, pausing

at the points of the answers

- Give correct answer:

- Instruction: You are going to the talk again Listen

again and fill in the missing words.

- Ask Ss to read the paragraph silently, predict the missing words and write them on a separate sheet of paper

- Play the tape more than once if necessary and ask Ss to get the answers and compare with their prediction

- Call some Ss to give their answers and explain

- Check with the whole class by playing the tape again and pause at difficult points if Ss cannot complete the task

- Give correct answers:
