1 Aims:

 Help Ss get some information about some atheles, kinds of sports and sports events

 Help Ss understand information given and do tasks better

2 Lexical items: Words related to sports

3 Teaching aids: Pictures of some athletes, black board, etc

4 Procedure:

I Warm – up: Guess names of sports.

Group 1: Fencing, billiards, football, cycling , boxing

Group 2: Athletics, tennis , volleyball, swimming, bodybuilding

_ Divide class into 2 big groups, each group has one

representative (use gesture to express the words)

_ 2 Ss have to give the suitable action

to express the name of sports)

_ Guess the words and write them on the board

II Before you listen:

_ Ask ss to look at the pictures on page 114, and answer the

questions

+ What are the names of these sports?

+ Have you ever watched sports like these on television?

_ Explain some words by pictures

_ Look at the pictures
